How much power you going for?

Have you looked into any possible issues with the RB26 crank nose?

I know with big power/boost on a lot of Ford/Chevy V8s its pretty common for the nose of the crank to shear clean off, along with the balancer of course.

Supercharging has crossed my mind with my RB25, but thats worried me to be honest, as there no real info about RB cranks thats relevant that I can find.

may i ask what supercharger you are planning to use? once my bmw is built its next on cards but im unsure what to use. great build btw, guna be awesome

for you sammy, there 3 questions.

what power you want to make?

how much boost can the engine take?

how much do you want to spend?

there are off the shelf bmw conversions, and not cheap, but unless you know what your doing, fabbing up the mounts and pulleys to make an xkr or any other one work is a bum ache

Power will be somewhere over 500, the SC we have chosen have successfully been used to well over 750 bhp on the mustang v8's and we will be gearing it for max boost whilst keeping it in its max efficiency range and max rpm window. If it dets un controllably while mapping then we'll take the boost down

To be honest we haven't considered shearing the nose off, but we do have several spare cranks now.

I know of one successfuly SC'd RB30 12v which has been making 500 bhp on a standard engine and not failed.

I guess we'll see what happens

I dont want to give it away yet, but I'll post ups some pics and show all later this week.

I do have a good used SC from a 4 litre jaguar if your interested good for about 400 and a bit hp. Make me an offer if your interested

Yes what he said, it wasn't very expensive about 150 off egay I think look up swage on egay. It comes with alot of dies and can make all sort of different patterns

just one question about tubbing those front inner arches, is there any benefit if your going to leave the rear half of the inner arch standard, surely the wheel will just hit the rear half

Drift setups tend to run a fair amount of castor, so the wheel sits forwards in the arch. At least thats my understanding.

thats a fair reason tbh, whats the idea of this tho, as far as i know more castor makes the wheels try to centralse more, is that to allow for faster transitioning??

its something i need to sort on mine but the adjustable tie rods are on there limmit so i need to turn them down
