Aah. Must be a US thing. Anything that makes your car look "fast" is like driving around saying "I'M ABOUT TO STREET RACE GET READY TO PULL ME OVER". Such a pain in the arse. Ticket quotas are such a joke. They force cops to find something write you up for.

I've had a friend get a ticket for his STOCK SPOILER ('98 Supra) being too tall and "impairing rearward visibility". Another friend got a ticket for the FACTORY TINT on his '00 Focus. I'm waiting to see a Model T Ford get pulled over for not being equipped with SRS or a catalytic converter.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!
Just had the car MOT'd today, drove 40 miles to my mates only for the engine to go bang, AGAIN!!

Just weighing up my options now.
APT built engine looking to be the favourite at the moment but thats gonna put the car off the road for quite a while as I need to save up the cash for it.

UNLESS anyone has a GOOD CA (and be prepared to guarantee its good) .

In the meantime I need a ccheap rwd car to thrash about in, ive GOT to get to a drift day soon.

Mate youve had no luck with this car, cut your losses scrap it and buy a sierra all you need is box of old tools and a jack and can fix anything in 5mins

on a serious note,

what has actually happened this time? might it not be worth selling that wing to pay for a bit of a rebuild?

lol sod off im NOT selling my wing

Sadly the engine is a total loss, I suspect a ruptured water line somewhere caused me to lose all coolant whilst dcruising up the M4 to London, however the Temp gauge gave me no notification and stayed normal until I pulled off at my junction where it went up to about 3/4 and then promptly settled down to normal again, as I came to a stop I saw steam coming from the bonnet.
From there I took a steady drive, no more than a couple of miles to my mates house, popped the bonnet and all appeared normal, no sign of a leak and no over heating, slight rev of the engine and the bearings let go in a big way, ive never heard such a horrible noise from an engine in my life.

Absolutely gutted but I refuse to give up on this car, I cannot scrap a mint s13!! (Besides, im not prepared to take a loss on selling all the goodies which are all new)

Well, a new engine is being built with the guarantee that if it blows up again within a year no matter how hard I drive it due to the build they will rebuild it totally free!

In the meantime im investing in some extra gauges to keep an eye on things and have finally gotten round to sorting my 17's out and went to Newhaven today to pick up two sets of tyres for them.

Feeling much more positive about things now.

LOL I agree it doesnt seem to like the CA (either that or the car doesnt like me ) im convinced that cars DO have a soul.
Anyway being as I couldnt go drifting at pod today I went and got my tyres fitted and finally after months of owning the rims Ive got them fitted on the car.

Oh and Cefiro Drifter if you read this I want a word with you young man

Looks more purposefull now and a shit load better than being on standard rims.
These are only here until I can find some nice dished rims in the future.

Took the engines (One UK one JDM) over to Camberley today where we proceeded to rip apart the newly blown JDM engine

Hmmm where did this come from?

Ah that would be where

Curious fresh mark in the middle of Piston #1

Det damage a go go on piston #4

Head didnt look pretty and was definately warped as it was lifting as we took out the head bolts

Close up of cylinder number 2 valves which arent closing together at the same time which would explain the blue smoke on hard acceleration

The rest of the valves all look the same as this

The bottom end appears to be absolutely fine apart from a bit of end float on the thrust bearings but oddly no sign of big end failure, no metal in the sump yet the noise the engine was making when it was running I would have sworn was a spun big end shell, constant loud banging from the engine while running.

Any one with any ideas on that one would be appreciated.

So the rebuild will consist of fully rebuilt UK head (I have taken a spare CA over there with a blown bottom end to use for spares and the head), metal headgasket and ARP bolts, new piston rings and possible new pistons, new big end shells even though the existing ones appear fine at the moment.
The block and the head will be stripped bare and fully rebuilt from scratch.
New oil and water pumps, seals gaskets etc throughout the engine.

Going to take a little while to sort out owing to my budget but it will get there.

Here is the worst piston for det damage No 4 inlet side

Here is a complely cooked and worn out main bearing in its cap which the rear main bearing no5

This is the front main crank bearing in the block

No 4 big end worn out. The bearings dont even stay in the caps or rods anymore

Crank is fine but will check and measure everyting just to make sure. I will also get the journals reploished so they are like new.

Close up on one journal still it good shape.

Here is a nasty mark on the bore in cylinder 1 but should be able to get rid of that with a good honeing.

A shot of the whole block stripped down

And the whole lot iss bits all over my mates garden

looks clean, not sure on the splitter tho !

BTW how did you fit the rear seats ?

i bent the upper brackets out and am going to make up some small plates at the bottom to extend the brackets out from the side outer brackets onto the seats

i cant see how to fit the base's tho.
any help ?

thanks

Splitter and spoiler are marmite items it seems, I like them therefore they are staying although the splitter may go when I get a bodykit, but right now ive more important things to concentrate on.

Rear seats I have to make up a bracket for the bottom of the back section, the base I put a slit in the carpet and srewed the existing bracket to the bodywork.
