yep thats what i meant

if your gonna drift it you need all the cooling help you can get, i wasted a lot of time at my first practice day letting the car cool down after getting very hot

Mainly gonna set it up for skidding mate although I do want to do some track aswell.
Basic tuning I can do but more than that is where im gonna need you guys help and advice.

The plan is two fold, I wont be stripping her out as I need to keep the ride comfortable for the missus so its not gonna be easy.
The way I describe the plan to the missus is that externally it will be drift spec whilst keeping with the comfort internally.
Is this easily acheivable or an I on a no win game?
Im not looking to drift competitively (cant afford it lol) but do want to get the max fun out of the car.

Are there any of you in my area (Reading) that would be willing to help put in some spanner time?

Thing is, to start getting it up to decent drift spec, you'll need locking collars/bushes and harder suspension. This will make the interior uncomfortable no matter how many pillows you put under her arse

Well the ride is already quite hard as its running Apex springs and I think its on KYB shocks (need to confirm that though) ride is fine until you hit a bump or a heavy undulation in the road then its quite harsh.

Im not new to S13's this is my 4th so I can draw on my experience in that respect with regard to mods and tuning but still have a lot to learn about suspension set ups etc.

Also this is going to take time to put together as im not by anymeans a rich man, so its going to be a case of saving up for a while for the more expensive items, needless to say the cheaper I can source parts the better.

Right now the main aim is getting the car tip top before I start modding anything, Its currently off the road pending the arrival of the turbo to manifold gasket, I could do with changing the PAS pump as its a bit noisy and then there is a wheel bearing making a noise but I need towork out which one it is. Gasket and PAS pump I can change myself butthe wheel bearing I guess will have to be sent into a garage to be done. Other than that the car seems to be clean, straight, solid and runs well so its a very good base to start from.

I spent yesterday fitting my headunit, amp and sub (comfort as we need tunes as the car is also going to be used on long distance runs as my family are 100 miles away whichever way I go and my holiday home is a 5 hour drive away) so you can see I wont be stripping it out.
Also started cleaning it up as its badly in need of a full valet inside and out.

Also im a big fan of engine detailing and have some nice plans instore to surprise people when I "pop the hood" So its going to be a bit of an alrounder really.

Just to bring things up to date I have a plan in my mind of what I want to do.
Engine wise, I want a stage 2 build so thats fairly straight forward

Bodywise im keeping with the dark green body but going for a black bonnet, roof, boot lid and spoiler and later a body kit (undecided which one yet)

Suspension has got to be coilovers I think as it currently sits stupidly low on Apex springs and standard shock which doent give a nice ride. Add to this all the arms and bushes etc.
And with these wheels

the whole thing should look very sweet by the time im done.
Gonna take a while to do but im determined to get there in amongst some skidding.

Time for a bit of an update. Its been a bit up and down but its been fun.

1st up the alternator cooked itself but that was easily sorted out. Got myself a mongoose exhaust and got that fitted and all was going well until the headgasket failed
so now the engine has been removed ready to be rebuilt, the bottom end looks fine, infact I would say its been rebuilt recently, the pistons are practically new and mint and the big end shells are also new so that wont need touching, just the head and turbo to sort out. Ive also sourced a short shifter and front strutbrace to go on after the rebuild is done and also now posess a stage 2 chip to go in aswell, all I need now is a T28 turbo so if anyone knows of one going give me a yell. (what should I ask for a great condition T25 that doesnt smoke?)
I did a bit more today being as I was off work for the day

Decided I would go down this afternoon and make a start.
1st job was to rip out all the aircon compnents as it didnt work anyway (man that pump is HEAVY!!) which then also enabled me to take a good look at the lower front cross member which on the S13 is prone to rotting out.
Mine thankfully was in good shape so I set about cleaning up the minor surface areas and zinc coating followed by red oxide coating. Just need to top coat that now.

Then I set about cleaning up the front subframe and power steering rack an associated pipework with gunk, its getting there and already looking much better, I got a bit bored so moved to cleaning the front passenger side of the engine bay and removed the PAS fluid reservoir and set about making it pretty, the colour sheme Ihave chosen for the engine bay is gold and black.

I think its gonna look just dandy when its done.

Thats all for now, will be doing more at the weekend.
