My First RWD

Hey finally i have a rwd car. i've always been into motorsport and drift etc but was never able to insure anything worth having !!!
untill now...

anyway, here she is

My Eunos Roadster S-Special 1.8 1994.
this picture shows exactly how it was when i got it 5 months ago.

it was fitted with a new radiator, hardtop, 15" bbs rs split rims, factory bilstein coilovers, factory strut brace, factory torsen lsd, stainless manifold, de cat, and hks back box, helix 4 paddle clutch kit, stainless roll over bar (non functional ), hks air filter, rockford speakers, cd player, awfull halfords type steering wheel !, air vent indicators in bumper, chrome/smoke side repeaters, spoiler, shift knob which comes off in hand !, ermm think thats about how it was...

Since then quite a bits happened
Firstly the brakes where absolute poo, so in came the "gold" zinc coated grooved discs and mintex extreme pads (all round). and some elbow grease/gold paint.

Then the suspension was next (was worn out so i replaced them with kyb buzz spec - 8 way adjustables)

after that the steering wheel and shift knob got chucked into the bin, and i picked up a nice shifter from a mate. In the garage i had a mountney steering wheel from a mini in near new condition. on it went !! loved it straight away and feels great when chucking the car around

next off came the air vents in the bumper and on went a standard pair.

AND THEN !!!!!

I managed to blow up the engine in a drifting session

luckily managed to find a low mileage mk2 1.8 engine for £235 good but bad i spose !

ok so after a whole week of staying up with the spanners till 1am (after work) i managed to strip the car and rebuild with the new engine as per pics.

starting the strip... /\
|
old engine nearly out ! |
\/

replacement engine ! |
\/

while the manifold was off i thought it would be rude not to heat wrap it !!

My very kind and good friend Brian (who i actually bought the car from) had bought another lightly front crashed mx5 to break up for parts !

Ideal !! I pinched his complete front subframe/wishbones/gearbox and started cleaning them and building up with the replacement engine as one big lump for a fast swap cheers Brian...

gearbox scrubbed up like new, painted the engine block black but was nice anyway really ! and assembled ready to fit.

Above - Engine + drivetraine etc in place and everything ready to be reconnected...

I also painted the inlet manifold black cos the silver one gets dirty looking quickly...

I havent acutally taken any more pics since i finished the swap but now i think about it i will add some tomorrow !

heres the outside of the car now

car has been running lovely ever since and definately has more power than before. The bbs rs wheels are of in favour of a refurb (black centres/with wide polished lips) and some 14 bbs (cheap tyres for drifting) are now in use.

I also changed the hks back box for a standard item as i prefer the looks/sound (call me strange!) but now that has rust holes so i have replaced with another stainless item. bought a few other bits, service items, silicone rad hoses, 4 prong plugs and silicone leads.

let me know what you think !!! any suggestions ?

I am currently building a turbo kit and have most parts except a manifold and am wondering about custom fabrication but its not something i have done before. advice there would be greatly appreciated.

thanks for looking, hope u like !

ps lame little drift vid, will hav to make sum proppa ones ! - Login | Facebook Login | Facebook

looks pimp! got my missus an mx5 1.8, before i thought they were shite, but after taking it out skidding, im shocked to say it drifts absolutely awesome! dare i say in some ways its easier to skid than my s13. although its an import and i havnt had it on the ramps to look at it, got a feeling its been tweeked.

if you have any bits you want to sell, let me know....

Yeah i wasnt aware of their handling untill i drove my mates (which is now mine !).
so obviously i was impressed with the go kart like handling/drift capabilities cos i saved up the cash, sold a few vital organs and bought it lol.

ok - car parts !
i work in a vehicle dismantlers btw so if u or anybody wants jdm or other car parts just ask me !!!

The Combellack Web - click used parts and it shows every vehicle were breaking down currently. updated every day also !

01726 891100 option 1 (parts)
just ask for me (will) + tell me u read this here...

we get all the insurance write off's from evos + impreza's to skylines, s13's/s14's etc you name it we have just about had it !

very handy place to work when you kill a set of rear tyres every week or so lol

i have cleared out most of my mx5 stuff now and kept the best which i have put on my car. I got a shiny boot rack thingy and a set of 1.8 mk1/2 calipers if ur interested and thats about it for now !?
