It is a bit ugly Sam, but if it's anything like the job you did on the Silvia it certainly won't leak or fall off, I'll give you that ![]() How much needs to be done before you're out in it? | |

| its very ugly fella. i was loathing having to do it. long term ill try paint roof black to try and hide it i think..im still trying to find some nato paint, i think if it were all same colour it wouldnt look as bad. not to much, hopefully by tuesday ill have the inlet all back together again and will be running. then going to get it into a dealership to try and find out its running problem. on the 24th clarkeys coming to pick the car up and get cage done, few other bits too. get you to do the diff, then fit it along with exhaust then source set of coilovers then i can skid it. wont be upto spec but only a case of cut off and fire extinguisher not mega fussed about competing this year, maybe do the last round or sumat. |

| Only a small update today..legs are still hurting and sun burnt. Now the modified tb and manifold are all fitted only thing still left to do before having the car running after 4 weeks is to sort out the electric race fan ive brought. silly question is there anyways of telling if the fan is a blower or sucker by just looking at it? or is it a case of wiring it in and seeing what it does? anyways didnt want to use cable ties so brought a fitting kit and some redline water wetter to keep things running smooth. dont realy understand how much watter wetter i need so prob just chuck it all in and hope for the best! ![]() fitting kit is ace, includes the quick style mounts that i was recomended and a c/w loom, crimps, amp connector and a relay. my question is as im rubbish when it comes with wires is do i need the relay and amp-connector? i was just going to wire the fan on a switch. advice be great as wanna get this done asap. GPR to the rescue again! |

| buttercakes!! ![]() | i take it you mean the bolts on the output flanges? grind the heads off, pull the shaft out, then you'll be able to get the remaining bits of bolts out when the diffs out and on the deck. or....buy a 325 diff, its a nicer ratio (3.15 instead of 2.98). chizfab has one sitting waiting to go, and can weld it for you too |

| yeah the diff ive got is a 325, just need it welding up but im getting seriously pissed off trying to undo the bolts. its where the driveshafts bolt onto the output shafts, those bolts wont come lose at all. dunno i keep thinking about goping m3 diff as it wont limit me doing circuit racing unlike a welder BUT wont be as great for drifty stuff. aghhh i duno!! |

| BMW Driver... | Haha you sound like your in major dilemma dude :P As for the fan dude, is there not a sticker that has all the manufacturer b*llocks on etc? If so does it not have a little arrow on it stating the direction? (i'm just going by the Spal fans we have in work for the busses )For the water wetter, i've read up a bit on the delete kit and from what some of the peeps have decided to do when refilling the coolant system is 50/50 mix of water and antifreeze +1 bottle of water wetter. Thats going from what i've read up on e36coupe.com hope you get it all up n running soon matey I love this car helps me with mine for future reference too lol! |

| Oh I remember when I had to undo mine to remove the differential before welding. Those were a paint if you don't have the right tools. The correct way to undo the 4 bolts is to pull the handbrake and select 1st gear. Of course for the handbrake to work you must have the output shafts attached still. Do not use the 16mm closed end spanner as that will round off the nuts. In fact never use that side. Soak the nuts in oil for a little while and then with the open end try to undo them. If that doesn't do it then at the end it took me one tool that I have been using since then and it works wonders.... ![]() I suggest you get one from Halfords or Lidle Sam if you plan to do anything else underneath the car. It saved my ass lots of times. Heating the nut will definitely help and get them loose. Also try to find some box section metal pieces or a pipe in different sizes to use to attach to instruments for some leverage. Do not use it on a rachet tool. |

| nah the bolts im on about are ones that hold end of driveshaft on, there like 10mm. had two decent sessions at removing them and no luck so im going to try your advice. going to buy a welder of chizfab for time being and use current one as a spare diff incase OR a option for track days untill i canafford a lsd. |

| Aaaaah you are talking about the 'really shit design bolts' that it took me a while to explain in Halfords what tool i needed. I kept telling the guy behind the desk it's like a star drive but in a spanner version. Yeah thats a 10 alright and it barely fits in the gap. Fortunately I didn't had any problems undoing them but I hope you can sort it out. |
