i had planned on tilting the seat as u described. will be getting an omp "rally style" deep 3 spoke wheel.

i will not drop the column untill the seat is mounted, its not so much the height but the angle which it sits at that i dont like. we shall see once i get the seat in

just a little thing ! - found a magnetic sump plug on ebay...

Driving is living, everything else is just waiting....

The day before yesterday the speedo was given to a friend for some modernisation. the old bulbs will be replaced with intense red led's. Shud look cool at night !

update

today i finished setting the the cambelt timing/installing the new tensioner and water pump. I also finished off swapping all the bits from the inlet manifold. some random little brackets etc got painted too.

I started painting one of my front calipers and then changed my mind altogether . now i have taken them off and will strip them and paint them properly. and i will do them gold not red.

This is the rad from the e36 318is with elec fan which i mentioned. I think it will fit pretty well - Fingers crossed lol.

Started cleaning up the rear beam but the drill battery died and i packed in for the night.

I phoned Ocean BMW in falmouth today and they were very helpfull, thanks Ian ! . Some more parts were added to my order - gaskets, exh manifold studs, handbrake cables, dizzy rotor arm etc etc. Its going to turn up on wednesday so I should be able to get this project flying along again.

thats it for now
will

todays update

Hello again !

So ! today was sound deadening day
not much fun but its surprising how much all that crap weighs. me and my friend but attacked the car with chisels for a while and got most of it out.

the engine block got a lick of gold and i'm pleased with how that looks now.

The front of the car gets a lower lip - I think its from an "is" model ??
This will be color coded later on...

I also removed the sound deadening and heat shields from the transmission tunnel. I think with a steam clean underside the body will come up a treat. rust ? what rust !

Bits from ocean bmw will turn up 2morro along with a hydro E brake from the Legendary JapImports/JDM Garage. Thanks Paul

I'd give it a gooooooooood coating of rust protection / stoneguard if you can under there, if it's mint, you'll want to keep it that way!

Looks awesome though.. makes mine look pants

Oh and that front lip is an iS splitter

update

Today i cleaned the engine bay ready for its engine to be fitted. came out very nice and even gave it some polish afterwards !!!

Thank you to Aaron for blagging me a monster roll of fabric to use for cleaning !!

cant wait to see the engine back in - cant be long now.

The parts from Ocean BMW turned up today and i fitted the rotor for the dizzy, alternator/power steering belts, exhaust manifold studs (however 1 old one is still very reluctant to come out). the inlet manifold gasket and exhaust manifold/gaskets will go on 2morro...

then she's ready to go back

I did a little more to the sound deadening again, finished the rear seat and then sprayed the lot with some acid type stuff !! then i used the cordless drill with wire brush on it and that worked slowly but well.

than the battery died so i called in the big guns for the floor !!!

this worked very well and took only seconds compared to the drill but the only problem is it takes off a load of paint. oh well i can put some back

got a nice bmw plate off ebay

My friend Shaun lillywhite came round to see how i was getting on also and decided to have a go at the boot while i was cleaning the engine bay thanks sean

Once we had access there i chucked all the junk that was in there and stripped the carpet and electric aerial. Of course it was then cleaned and polished as usual...

well thats it for me 2nite, im v.tired !!!
thanks again for evry1 who's helped

yeah good idea - im gonna give it a proper coat of the thick black stuff

ah thought it was an is one

i wonder how much it weighs now, there are scales at work accurate to 1kg and big enough to hold a lorry + trailer. as soon as the wheels are on i will find out...

engine in

The engine was trial fitted today, still have lots to do but will move my attention to the interior now.

Many thanks to Male for helping me fit the beast in his new house. It was raining like mad too and got wet because it was blowing in the side of the shed !!!

for the interior I have to;

fit the seats
create mounting points for the harness's
remove old dash and fit new one
finish removing sound deadening and re paint interior
fit hydro handbrake
swap boot, ignition and door locks
tidy wiring up
fit steering wheel and boss
fit drivers heel plate

so thats what i will be cracking on with 2morrow

Looking good though the adjustable pressure regulator does fudge all to be honest, Your injectors are designed to flow MAX at 3 Bar pressure (Standard injector pressure from my understanding of stock injectors, uprated ones could be different) so upping the pressure won't have any inprovement, though from what i've heard it tends to fubar up the map as the engine ends up being overfueled a bit and runs rough all over the shop

Looking good otherwise

hmm yeah was a bit sceptical but that little lot was almost freeeeee (swapped it for some bits off the redundent shell !!!) so wasnt going to turn it down !!!

I will give it a go and see what happens. I doubt it will give me 1,000,000 lb/ft (or any !) but i will have better tuning control over the engine surely ?
