| tail slider | update Hello again, Quite a long one as i havent been on here for a while ! been a little distracted with sorting stuff/repairing the lotus elise since the last update and havent worked on the car. BUT at least I have still been sorting out parts !! I needed a pair of front disks, distributor cap and new HT leads which i was quoted some CRAAAAzy prices for by BMW and even the local Factors. GSF CAR PARTS were the cheapest in the end at about £45 for the dizzy cap alone. I left it and ordered the rotor arm only from BMW. While browsing ebay I found a job lot of BMW parts !!!! Included was an E30 2.5 dizzy cap, HT Leads Front disks brand new !!!brand new !!!brand new !!!brand new !!!![]() and the chap also included a whole bunch of used spares including an air flow meter, idle control valve, headlights, foglights, radiator, rear lamps, handbooks, A BBS RS CENTRE CAP TOOL ! managed to scoop the whole lot for £13.59 LOL ![]() ![]() Check out the ebay bargain ! I also picked up another e30 ! (have 3 now ! ) was going to break it for parts but its too nice and I cant bring myself to scrap it so i might fix it and nick the exhaust from it (scorpion stainless). Its a 325i "sport" 1987 m tec 1 edition - Charcoal metallic Spec (so i am told) - high compression engine (rebuilt not too long ago also and poss cams or port polish), close ratio box, Quick shift, lsd, scorpion exhaust, hamann grille, grille brows, imola 16" alloys, lowered suspension, recaro interior, K&N, Chipped ECU, Adjustable FPR, M Tec 1 bumpers, side skirts, and spoiler. This car has had a slight knock in the front but i have the body panels from my 4 door car which i may use to repair this one. I have a standard exhaust to replace the scorp too. Maybe a future 2nd drift car lol ?? Oh and my mx5 caught fire today on the way home from work due to me forgetting to secure the mushroom filter when i fitted my new strut brace and it fell against the manifold ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Burnt hand = ouch ! I had to pull the burning bits from the engine bay by the side of the road after the engine cut out cos the afm was on fire and PEE on it all to put out the flames ![]() Bad times - had visions of the whole car going up ! ![]() Anyway back to my build... I have fitted the new bushes and the welded diff on the disk rear axle and put that onto my car now with the lowered springs and bilstein lowered shocks. wasnt too hard - actually the bushes had me sweating a bit ! The car now sits on all four wheels again with the engine and box in ! ![]() ![]() ![]() i have taken apart the front seat frames and bolted them back into the car - now I have to mate the buckets to them. Also when installed the 2.5 engine I broke the shifter mechanism which sits on the back of the gearbox, I have another now removed from a car at work. ![]() All of the wheels are now split apart and I have cleaned them and got 4 x 195/45/15 Toyo Proxes. The replacement lips turned up from ebay and are being polished. Now I just have to paint the middle parts and get them back together. ![]() ![]() Well I think thats most of it for the minute, the steering wheel and boss should be here soon also ! ![]() more soon lotus will be finished and then its bimma time again ![]() |

| I've got one of those mushroom airfilters lying around too if you want it cheap. Find me a price on the net for a second hand one and I'll try to beat it if you're interested. Its the same type, HKS mushroom filter. Can't help with the AFM or piping though. You're a right little bargain hunter you are, get yourself onto the antiques roadshow or something ![]() Only 1 problem atm - your car is looking too high! |

| What a brilliant build..im stunned! Ill be keeping a very close eye on this ![]() BTW: two things 1. Engine oil is great for getting off sound deadening. i know because the cap came off the top of a bottle in my boot and it turned the wheel well sound deadener into a goohy mush, but with a bit a degreaser it cleaned up nicely. 2. The lip you picked up is off the e30 318is, have a look at the link below, the car in the background has the lip on it. http://www.m42club.com/images/club_m42_home_03.jpg Good luck with your project Paul |

| tail slider | update Tonight with the help of my good friend Aaron put on and cleaned the 16" imolas - my cheap alpina substitute till bbs are done ! secured oil cooler in place (temp zip tie styleee !) I went to fit prop shaft but it seems the centre bearing/support bit will not bolt up. the holes are wider on the "2.5 manual" bracket. there are different types I take it ? I can only guess the 4 pot shaft has a different bracket. guess what ! I dont have the old one any more. I would rather swap the part than hack things about and modify (but if thats what it takes I will do)... Anyway the scorpion exhaust has been tig welded because the box had a crack on the end which is strange cos it looks of good quality and not very old ??? maybe took a whack ! ![]() The steering column is a BIAAAAAATCH to change (grrrr shear bolts ! ) and I ended up grinding the |____| shaped bracket with the 4 bloody bolts in. Have to fabricate a new one now but that wont be hard.note to self - STOP LOSING KEYS !!! lol there's been no pics for a while as you might notice - my camera on my phone stopped working so I will take my digi cam 2moz and you can see my progress.... ciao 4 now, a very tired will ! |

| tail slider | Update Hello Finally got some pics of progress ![]() ![]() working into the evening again ! ![]() This is the bearing/support which was wrong but has been changed for the old 1.8 auto item and is sorted now. ![]() ![]() rear end is all back together now except for the exhaust... ![]() these studs in the manifold have been bent ?! possibly by lifting the engine with chains ! need to fit new ones before I can put the exhaust back on ![]() ![]() ALMOST FINISH ! well mechanically speaking ![]() ![]() Rear of interior primed and just about ready for a coat of red ! ![]() Cracked dash is now removed and the steering column is half way through being replaced. ![]() brakes all together and bled. another spare set of wheels ! ![]() ![]() ![]() cracked exhaust has met "the tig" ! |
