RoCo Performance 2nd f20c ae86 conversion well lads and lassies, just thaught id throw up a few pics of the latest build in the work shop, with our suscess with conor's s2000 ae86 we were asked to swap another f20c into a ae86 for a customer. the only twist is that its going to be a road car. so we couldnt go as low as conors, so every dimension we had worked out for conors car was scraped, and we started at the start. ![]() what we were given ![]() f20c Last edited by RoCo-Per4mance : 19-07-2008 at 13:26.

first thing was to line up the engine and cut the tunnel. i love cutting up perfectly good cars.!! once we had that done we fabricated up the cross member, ![]() we used mk2 escort engine mounts as the s2k ones were shot. after we had the engine sitting where we wanted, we made a frame for the new tunnel. this gives a bit of rigidity to the bulkhead and tunnel. ![]() ![]() we then fabricated the new tunnel out of sheet metal ![]() ![]() Last edited by RoCo-Per4mance : 19-07-2008 at 13:27.

we then primed and painted the new tunnel. ![]() ![]() ![]() as this is going to be a road car, we had to keep ground clearance as high as possible, but also place the engine appropriately for handling. we sat the engine as close to the bulkhead as posible, and we cut through the crossmember to lower the engine into it. by doing this the engine sits low in the bay, but still high off the ground. ![]()

so now were most of the way through the swap but not out of hot water yet. we now have the engine mounted, and sitting prety, the bulkhead is fabed and painted, and engine height and position is set. the customer asked us to modifie the stock manifold like we did for conor as he couldnt find anyone to build one on short notice. so heres the engine in place, ![]() and this is the space we have to work with! not much ![]() with the position of this engine, we had a bit more room than with conors build, as the engine is 10mm more forward. 10mm is alot. we mocked up a jig and made the primary's fit down into the tiny gap between the chasis leg and the steering rack. ![]()

the gap between the leg and the manifold. ![]() the gap between the rack and the manifold ![]() we then took measurements and made a jig for the secondary tubes. took the primarys back out and then made the full manifold. ![]() we then ported and ground all welds, and cleand it up. ![]()
