Okay well the car performed very well I felt at the AE86 trackday in Mondello on Saturday and I feel theres alot of potential there. The brakes how ever were struggling a bit and with smoke pouring of the front ones while driving up the straight I fell its time for an upgrade in that department. I have nearly decided what to get and just need to sort the money for them now.

But heres the pics I have of my car at the trackday. Nearly all were taken by ppl who can actually use a camera effectively (unlike me) so they finally show clearly what the car looks like compared to the poor quality ones I have up.

I also have two vids that I might aswell throw up. First is just a bit of a fly by. Second is one full lap recorded from a sneaky handheld by passenger (Nicknack). Its only the first full lap after coming out of the pits though so I'm still waiting for the tyres to warm up, hence why I'm braking very very early for the first corner. Lines are a bit all over the place in places too but i corrected that towards the end. This laps roughly 1.11 but I was getting 1.08 later on with a passenger also. Might aswell throw it up anyway as its sadly all I really have, as the Go Pro Camera I bought didnt work out. I forgot to test it beforehand and didnt use rechargeable lithium bateries as advised so I basically recorded nothing of real worth, but I'll know for next time.

Just went with the brother and stayed in Maynooth. Knew a good few of the lads going from AE86irl so just met up with them. Not going RX-7 calipers or that as you need 15" rims for them. The callipers that are on it are fine as the cars only light so huge brakes will just add unnecessary weight if anything. Its just more overheating and brake fade that I'm thinking about. These are the ones I've ordered today off Fensport:

They're Black Diamond drilled and Grooved ones and they're probably as good as you can get. Bit expensive but sure I've wasted so much at this stage I might aswell stay going!!

Also ordered Mintex M1155 Pads for the front which I'll probably just switch in for trackdays as they mightened be the best when cold:

And Project Mu D1 spec pads for the rear off Driftworks:

Should have them in hopefully for Japfest on Sunday.

You might find the rear nips up a little early with the D1's out back when gripping. Sweet for trail braking..

Yeh I kind of just decided on them but now thinking maybe they mightened give the best balance. If not i'll just leave the pads I have at the moment in the rear as they should be sufficient I'd say, and then maybe put in the D1 ones if I'm doing a drifting event. I'll have to see what they're like when I get them I suppose.

Cheers mate. Sadly I wont be competing though at Japfest either. Just going out for a bit of tracktime with DTD and maybe another session too. But looking forward to next year also!

Nearly 100% sure Freedom limits at 9000RPM. Some sound off your car passing the pits last week.

Cheers I've never quite gone to 9k yet I dont think, so I'll have to see. I really think theres aftermarket cams in it now after the trackday so I think I really should be revving it that far anyway. Was only going to about 8-8.5k at the trackday.

Alright well the Brakes arrived today + pads. Have to say the Black Diamond grooved and cross drilled discs are quite simply savage looking! The pics dont do them justice. I spent ages just looking at how mean and aggressive they look. Its nearly a pity that they'll be somewhat hidden by the Watanabes, but hopefully you can still see them. Even more hopefully they wont crack, a thing that I didnt really comtemplate when deciding on the grooved and drilled, over just the grooved discs, but sure we'll see how they go, and really that shouldnt happen. I'll be running the Black Diamond grooved and crossdrilled discs up front, with standard callipers, braided lines, and new Mintex M1155 pads. On the back I'll be runing the Black Diamond grooved and cross drilled also. However regarding pads, for the moment I'm gonna stick with the current rear ones as they're in good nick and I fear the Project Mu D1 Spec ones that I also got (Cheers Driftworks!) might have too much initial bite for grip racing. So might just throw them on if I'm going drifting, and they should work very nicely with the hydraulic handbrake. As usual heres a few "fresh out of the box" pics:

Cheers, I wouldnt even consider swapping it as (1.) I love it to bits and (2.) I've spent way too much now to not enjoy it to the fullest, and I'll never get the money back I've spent anyway lol!
