WelshMart's 2009 BDC Project Tramp Saph 24v

So on Monday night I picked up my project car. Bought from Tom (Doughnutter). It was a G plated 2000e, but when Tom bought it it already had gone through a 24v transplant, Tom has kept his engine and having back all of the running gear so that i can put all my stuff from my old 4i 24v
So here it is when I first got it

Tuesday nite I started stripping the interior
Before

After

Plan was to keep the loom that is in the car but after looking at the mess of wires in the passenger footwell I've decided mine is a lot simpler and tidier
Wednesday involved more striping last nite, first thing was to remove this spaghetti of wires

Much better

After all that I couldn't really be bothered with much else so just took the roof lining out and seatbelts etc and cleared everyhting out of the scuttle panel

Going well so far..
Tonite I've done little jobs, first off I took a trip to the tip to get rid of the e34 touring bootfull of crap that I had already stripped from the interior and under the bonnet, whenI got back I cleared the engine bay of all the bits left bolted down ready for a good degreasing.

I also got rid of the door cards, seirra owners out there any tips for getting rid of the horrible black stuff that sticks the foam shit onto the door? I gave up and left it on my old one but want this one looking nice and clean..
Other than that I removed some speaker wiring and the wiring in the boot for the solenoid boot release.
On the weekend I tackle the sound deadening, luckily I still have the heat gun I borrowed off the in laws to remove it last time, best give it back once I'm done
Once thats done I will remove the rear sub frame and front cross member and all its attached bits to give them back to their owner.

Whats the plan for it mart, road or just track?

Got a 24V converted Saff i'm selling soon just hope it sells.

The black stuff come off with a solvent. Standard paint thinners will do.

Glad your happy with the car mate and its good to see it go too a good home, was way too good to scrap

I gave up on the black shit on my all my Sierras, you can heat it and pick it / scrape it off but it takes ages, thinners / solvent helps but its still ball ache. As for the residue from the sound deadining mat on the floor, gunk works well. Just pop the drain plugs out and brush it with gunk, it'll just brush off with water and cloth after.

Today I've stripped off all the sound deadening, I'm glad that I still had the heat gun as it all lifted of nice and easy

After I had bagged it all up I started working on removing all the residue left over, thanks to Toms tip I used petrol and a paint brush then wiped it of and it all just lifted off.

Before

After

Now the interior is nice and clean after a wash down with the hose, means that I can start attacking the few rust patches and install my roll cage then paint up inside

Sierra sound deadening comes off piece of piss, 90% of the hatch area of mine lifted off with light scraper action thanks to years of moisture weakening the glue

Mart is going to try and fit the cage AFAIK, possibly just making up bigger feet to get it in.

It was pretty easy, still a days work though heat gun makes it all soft and guey and lifts off easy with a scraper.

I will be using the same cage, the only difference between the two cages is that the main hoop sits further back in the car as the 3door has longer front doors so it will fit, when I bought it it was in a five door anyway..

Shame the front bumper has had a bit cut out of the middle and the passenger side skirt is missing the front part
