Why get one, then remove the about the only thing that makes them half decent, the fact they got a rear transaxle which makes what should be an utterly dogshit car actually handle quite good?

Essex V6 weighs a ton and would be a ton of work to fit. Do the Essex V6s fit a 4i box? As they usually got the even shitter Cologne V6 bolted to em.

Personally, id not do any of the above, but one of the 4cyl options would be better.

But you shouldve just got a 360, then can use the Volvo 4cyl turbo engines, which are just as good if not better, esp once got 16v head on em, AND you could keep the transaxle, meaning the handling should stay.

Well the axles break with any kind of power anyway (see Sid's epic problems last year) so you'd be best off replacing that. Just do what the fuck you want it's your money. The essex v6 is pants, the other options are expensive, just buy a 325i.

Or you could just get a skyline shell for £500 and swap that over instead? Then you have a couple of grand of skyline rather than a volvo with an ill-fitting engine.

Do whatever you want, personaly i think its a shit idea, there not exactly a "good" base for a project to the extent your wanting to do.

Sounds like the best idea mate, definately. Too many people fall foul of the "drift project" bug, without thinking that maybe drifting would be more fun than trying to build lol.

Nah mate, if you want to keep it relatively easy, not too much power, but lots of fun etc, get the volvo 480 1.7 turbo engine. Needs a bit of work to get it spot on in a 340, but not a huge amount. See volvomania for threads on how to do it. Its not done often though, the normal transplant is obviously the 1.8 16v clio engine, which is easier.

Up to you and your pocket mate, but don't make life hard on yourself.
