tiny update.

Managed to pull the engine out today, grinded the old gearbox mounts off and pretty much ready to put the new lump in now. I say all I have to do is remove the old engine mounts and then I 'should' be able to drop the new engine in. It never goes that straight forward tho. Think I'm gonna have to pull the steering rack out to get the engine mounts off. Everything is such a pain on this car haha

yea, you gotta drop the steerin rack down to get the mounts off! not sure about that engine, but with the XE you have to put the new mounts in hole closest the front of the car to clear the bulkhead.. the mounts are a flange to get on! i feel your pain

small update.

got the engine in on the mounts. unfortunately the tunnel does need cutting out a fair bit. because of this when I lowered the engine onto the mounts the angle it was sitting at has caused one of the mounts to tear. So I've got one on order and hopefully will be here tomorrow.

only have 1 pic today:

right time for another small update.

All the engine, box and prop etc is in and bolted in place. the cooling is in and set up and the hole for the box is much bigger than I first expected haha but it means all there is to do is the fueling and the wiring. and the welding of the tunnel then it will be driving.

here is a pic:

done all the wiring today. looks an absolute mess im gonna have to thin out the loom there are so many stray wires not going anywhere which arnt needed anymore. got the fuel pump mounted and gonna try and get the fuel lines tomorrow. also tried to put the exhaust on but it sits on the floor so made a new gearbox crossmember to give more clearence. day off tomorrow so on friday im gonna try and sort out the fuel lines and try n start her up. even tho there will be no exhaust or tunnel in place. does anyone know where to get fuel line pretty cheaply? I can only find it in small or > 7m lengths.

right update time the engine is in but unfortunately it only runs for about 2 seconds then cuts out, I have been told it's the immobilized chip notbeing in the right location compared to the ring which goes round the barrel. I thought it just had to be close but obviously not , if anyone has a corsa or astra could you let us know how the chip sits? Cheers

Right managed to sort out the problem. There was a wire missing from the transponder ring which I've wired up and now its running!!

Just gotta make an exhaust and weld up the tunnel then it should be on the road

Great build. Nice progress done so far. I know an old fella up the road from me here in Ireland that has one just sitting there. What kind of money are they worth in good cond and fair cond? What are the rust points to look out for? Cheers in advance for the info
