i broke the e30 and sold all the goodies on it to fund a range rover and a trailer for my s14..... was a surprising amount of parts value on the e30 and id had my fun and done loads of awesome street miles with it anyhow.....i SHALL be back with an e30 in the future though but based on an m3 shell and DTM livery, hopefully LS7 powered

yep had just bought it then.

After prepping it for drift comps i went to the ring, then got into trackdays and just found there was more seat time to this than at drift days, plus there was the oppurtunity to drift on real tracks (when the marshalls didnt mind that is) At the ring they dont care if you want to drift but obviously you cant go for entries etc.......

well i crashed it at the ring in june pushing in the back end a fair bit so i sourced another shell rather than repair it. Work promptly followed, luckily all mechanical bits were salvageable apart from the exhaust and one wheel! which is good considering i hit the barrier at 80+

Got a JDM shell and heres some progress pics car is with fabricage where they're doing an awesome job. Colour scheme will be white/JDM kit with carbon bonnet doors boot. Wheels will be those 17in BBS RS but with 3.5 in lip and gold centres. Rear overfenders will be held on with gold bolts to match. Julian did a great job tubbing the rear arches for me so i wont have to shit myself everytime i go into the compression in the foxhole at 150+

cage in progress pics, still lots to come on the cage including
    x door bars
    turret tie-ins
    rear x bar
    tunnel tie-in
    custon dash bar

all the bars are tight to the pillars/bulkhead etc and are all going to be directly stitched in

really happy with the work on the cage. Peter and Steve at fabricage ar doing an awesome job with some more trick bits to come on the cage! I cant recommend them enough

    I EXCITE

Ill be tubbing the front when it gets back just to get some more lock even though its not really a comp drift car as such. I wont be seam welding it as the underneath is pretty tidy as it is and i dont think it will make much difference over the extensive cage.

The rest of the build afgter paint should be quick as its just a matter of switching everything over although i will be relocating the fusebox to inside the car where the aircon box used to sit.

    Cheers

Had a couple hours this morning

All charge pipes have been stripped dow and sprayed satin

Redid the rocker cover in gloss black, looks better in real life, poor light in photos

Also replaced gaskets on turbo (2871r) to manifold and redid some of the heatwrap as it was failing. Inspected turbo, still good as new and no signs of excessively high EGTs as ive had in the past when running smaller turboes at the top end of their capabilities. previous t28 was going white on the blades!

Have also purchased a rivnut kit with stainless rivnuts to allow me to mount my fenders including some blingin countersunk all gold anodised bolts that will mount the fibreglass on the rear arches. this should set of nicely against my soon to be gold centred BBS RS. I have also found a good supplier of outer rims for the wheels in ally. Just have to wait and get the car back so i can measure up how wide i can go......they do up to 8in OUTER rims---mediocre lol

    anyway some update [pics

more to come soon, im trying to get as much done as i can without the sell here!! :fight:

Picked the shell up on saturday with the cage finished...theyve done a great job im really happy with it! They had to bring the nearside turret-tie-in a bit more inboard due to wiper gubbins clearance. Tidied up the bulkhead today were they had to go through for the turret triangulation with some welding and special sealer gooey stuff. Also made and mounted a rear battery tray. Manged to fit one rear overfender but my rivnut gun broke after 5 stainless rivnuts which im not happy about so ill be calling them tmro to sort it out. Also stitch welded intermittently between the existing spot welds on the turrets just to add a bit more strength and prevent it spreading from the inner which does happened on these s14s

    Still to do before paint:

    1. clean glue of rest of floor
    2. weld in handbrake brackets
    3. removing last few bits on shell.... brake pipes etc.
    4. weld plates over a few holes in engine bay and cabin/boot.

peter at fabricate used mine to get the patterns and he can do one of these for about 1400-1500 plus vat. I reckon that's a great price for a cage like this , plus it's done by experienced chaps and there's no silly gussetting anywhere that just increases weight, instead the pipes are directly stitched. In addition, all non-reg sections are thinner gauge to keep weight down.
