Right lets get this one under way, its a 1JZ'd GZ20 Soarer just like my old red one :D

I'm building it for a guy called Dan in Spain to compete with in Europe, he wanted a replica of my original car as he could'nt have my original one as it went to someone else. I've got a few months spare, so it's build time :smokin:

This was Dave's/Tom's car that came via Sajet at Japanese Performance originally. It's never been used since imported about 2 years ago. It's nice & straight too & already had the 1JZ & Manual gearbox conversion :worthy:

Engine is to have a single turbo GT3076r conversion, same spec as my original Soarer so 500bhp spec. More on that as we get there! The car is planned to have as little weight as possible with poly windows, fully stripped etc etc

First stage is stripping it of all the weight, lots of stuff in these old Soarers :wack: & getting it ready for its full cage with Nickson Motorsport.

As she arrived in my newly built triple bay garage/workshop :worthy:

And to answer any questions & keep you drooling for the next few months over nuts bolts & bits of weld etc this is what it might look when its finished, thanks to Si at SJS :smokin:

    The strip down begins

Heaps & heaps of sound deadening in these cars :smash:

    Door innards cut away
    [IMG]

    Deglazing the whole car

    Deglazed

Fully dewired, dash out & stripped to the bone

Funny you say that last time it took me a day to work to work out how to get the dash out, this time it took 20 mins :wack:

Yeah the garage is cool : Just need a sofa, telly & beer fridge & I'll be moving in :dw:

It'll be a replica mechanically of mine, though slightly less extreme.

I'm pretty sure that can be sorted, dash has just been taken out today. I guess it's best to flock after the cage has been trimmed to fit?

Flocked dash would be cool :smokin:

Even more stuff coming out now :smokin:

Front & rear bumpers have been removed & had all the steel crash structure innards removed, along with various trims & I've modified the towing eyes, it had four originally! Plus a whole load more stuff that is'nt required. About 25-30kg each end :wack:

Then refitted the bumpers as they will be going with the car as spares along with an all new kit.

Bumpers off, hundreds of wee nuts, screws & clips :smash:

Tons of metal work in them there bumpers
    [IMG]

Cutting out the towing eyes from the original crash member
    [IMG]

    Refitted just the towing eye
    [IMG]

More of the same at the front end
    [IMG]

Anal fact of the day - First use of fibre optics in a car!!!! As fitted to GZ20's & their funky sidemarker light things
    [IMG]

It's starting to sit higher on the springs now!

I might be tempted to drive it down to the local weighbridge :D & see what it now weighs I reckon its easily lost 150kg plus.

Sorta, my reaction was more 'I'm SOOO jealous' instead - makes more sense to me :D

Loving the car, mega jealous too of the car, the skills you will be putting into it, the time you have, and the garage! Definitely a build to watch and enjoy!

So the car is now ready to be dropped off to Nickson Motorsport for its full rollcage treatment. Todays jobs were remove the old aircon unit, it weighed 8kg! it was already degassed so that was handy & I did some tidying up & gave it a hoover inside. Theres nothing worse than welding & catching light to bits of sound deadening tar when your not looking :hehe:

Last of the interior bits to go 8kg of aircon unit
    [IMG]

All nice & clean for the cage job
    [IMG]

Love the back lights on the Soarer
    [IMG]

Its still runs & drives as is, the 1JZ sounds lovely,

oh look whats arrived in the bay next door :D
    [IMG]

Two JZ'd Toyota's to play with now, one thats about as lardy & fat as you get, the other stripped & bare to the bone.

I'll be starting on that one soon :)

Monday the Soarer's off to be caged & I'll be updating as that goes along.

I'm off to the pub :wack::thumbs:
