I've just converted this from M50 to S50B30 from a 3 Litre M3. I've done 16 miles since the conversion. This was done on a realistic budget, the stock manifold has been modified rather than buying a BTB one etc. The car is solid and has had all the structural rust removed and plated up, and the suspension setup is proper, its stiff and has loads of grip, great for drifting. The body is OK, a bit tatty in places but solid. Car looks cool! The engine is very quiet (especially for an S50) and seems to run well, starts on the key every time, solid enough idle, no smoke, never gets hot, makes all the right noises, seems powerful and goes well. The engine mounts are very stiff and transmit some vibrations into the cabin but nothing too crazy, you dont really notice when driving.
The car has three problems:
The alternator is quite noisy (charges fine)
The car can bog down if the throttle is pumped lightly from idle. Its worse when cold. It doesnt really affect the driving, as its not often you pump the gas from idle under normal driving conditions.
The car is not far off being 100%.
A new exhaust system wouldnt be a bad idea if you wanted to get the most out of it, im not especially proud of the system on it, but it was just made to get the car driving. It has an E36 M3 center section with cats, and its modified to suit but a re-fresh would be a good idea. As it stands, it works and is quiet.
Im tired of building cars, i dont have the enthusiasm left to give it that final push.
£4000 Will part ex for ideally an E36 328i Sport or something interesting, Chaser, R32, try me?
The car will need picking up on a trailer as it has no tax or MOT
