Ford Scorpio drift/tow car 1998 (R) Ford Scorpio Ghia in Pepper Red 181,000 miles MoT June 09, tax Feb 09 2.3l engine, 145bhp, manual gearbox, rear wheel drive 16” alloys with good condition 225/50 tyres all round V. dark blue unmarked leather interior Cruise control, aircon, electric windows + mirrors Electric seat height adjustment + inflatable lumbar support (driver) Radio/tape player with controls on steering wheel Alarm / immobiliser, remote central locking + remote boot open Trip computer (average speed, average mpg, outside air temp etc) Heated front screen (amazing in winter) Split fold rear seats, enormous boot Fitted by me: New battery last month (£100 ![]() )Wittor towbar with electrics Superbright halogen headlight bulbs Hardly any bad points to list, but I'll list them anyway: Paintwork generally not great. Rear bumper has a crack in it on the passenger side. Water temperature gauge works intermittently. Skids well in the wet, never tried it in the dry as I think it would need some hefty weight shift & clutch kick action which is harsher treatment than I would like to give my daily/towing car. Everything works bar the temperature gauge, as mentioned above, and overall it’s in excellent mechanical condition. Starts first time every time, swallows massive loads with no effort whatsoever, takes 4 people in luxury, tows well and skids well too ![]() Reduced now to £600 Last edited by Pikey : 09-10-2008 at 10:10. Reason: price reduction and mileage update

As I'm selling up at the end of the season, might as well put this up for sale officially aswell ![]() Details as in first post, but now has 178,000 miles and a new MoT as of last month £750 ono That's only fifty quid more than I wanted for it for a few months ago, and it needed rear discs/pads and some welding for the MoT - so thats got to be a bargain surely ![]()

£600 then ![]() Just about to tick over to 182k now, thats 18,000 completely trouble free miles with the exception of needing a new battery earlier this year ![]() Its a bugger trying to shift these bigger cars nowadays - an older, lower spec Mondeo would cost you more than one of these ![]()

How did it tow with the pussy 145bhp? I guess with the lack of potential dry drifting it might be a bit weak. I'm in the market for a tow car and hadn't considered the scorpios tbh. I'm only in the market when I get rid of my FC though which will probalby be another month.

I had no problem pulling the SX around, you have to change down for steep hills, but it'll sit on the motorway at 60mph on cruise all day long I dare say a 5 or 7 series would be better (Ive not driven either mind) but you're not going to get either of those with a long MoT, for £600 ![]() I'd hope not anyway lol

Arse ![]() However - neither of the 5s have a towbar, so thats another £100, and they dont match the spec (aircon, cruise, heated windscreen etc) of my Scorp. I've discounted the 3 series as its not heavy enough. Horses for courses - I dont really go hooning around in my road car any more as I have a motorbike to keep me amused for that sort of thing ![]()

Yeah I realise it looked like I was trying to make your car look bad value, that's not the case just asking about the performance etc. High spec economy ready-to-go Ford action ftw. If it's still for sale when I am towcar searching in hopefully about a month then I'll be in touch.
