CHEAP R33 - Slightly Damaged

Hi guys and girls,

I’ve been interested in drifting and Japanese cars for quite some time, and have never posted because I don’t actually drift - I’m more into bikes myself.

I realise it’s a bit cheeky to make my first post in the For Sale forum, but I am listing this car on behalf of my wife as I think it has potential to make someone a nice cheap drift car project.

Anyway, enough explaining and onto the car.

It’s a 1994 R33 GTS-T Skyline. 77k miles, manual, in silver/grey two-tone.

The car was personally imported by myself about 5 years ago, sourced by Miguel of Newera (he’s a family friend), and has been used as my wife’s daily drive since.

The car has been great, but my wife has been thinking about moving to something cheaper to run for a while now. Recently the car was also hit from behind by a dizzy Punto driver, and this has further pushed her towards moving on. We have decided to offer it for sale as is, rather than carry out an “all new parts” type repair, as we feel it would be more sale-able this way.

It’s pretty much in standard trim asides from the following:

§ 8x17 ET35 BBS wheels, with Dunlop 235’s with decent tread fitted all round.
§ HKS Hiper Cat-back exhaust – now bent and in need of replacement.
§ Blitz dump valve
§ Blitz boost gauge.
§ BeTime Turbo Timer.

The bad bits:

The damage to the car is limited to the lower rear panel. The boot lid escaped! Rear bumper cover and carrier, rear panel and boot floor compacted. The “Skyline” centre trim has lost its securing lugs, and a tiny corner of the N/S/R light unit is chipped. The rear section of the exhaust is bent. I’d expect to jack out the damage and get away with a S/H rear bumper and carrier, and either repair the rear exhaust section or find a replacement.

Condition-wise is as you would expect for a 14 year old daily driven car. It’s not perfect, and has a few marks from other clumsy parkers, and some from myself….whoops. Specifically the front bumper has seen better days, and there are a few minor pin dents just behind both doors. The bonnet also has a few stone chips. Wheels could do with a re-furb., and it’s worth nothing that there are early signs of corrosion on the front strut turrets. However it still passed the MOT.

Running gear wise, it could use new discs, although the pads are OK. The Hicas ball joints need replacing (although if you’re going to drift it I’d imagine you would fit a lock kit, and do this at the same time). The rest of the suspension bushes are ok, as are the shocks, and the front tension rods have recently been replaced.

The passenger electric window is broken, and the air-con doesn’t work also.

Good bits:

The engine is as sweet as a nut, and has plenty of life left in it. Having always been run at standard boost, the oil pressure is good and healthy at 4 bar when warm or cold. Servicing has always been done by myself (I run a small garage), and the car has always been treated to Castrol RS fully synthetic, and Japanese filters.

Apart from the obvious rear damage the car is in sound condition, and with the basic addition of a bucket seat, HICAS lock kit and a welded diff, would make a good basic drift car.

We are looking for £1850. Would consider a road car or motorbike in p/x.

Thanks for looking, If you are interested please call on 07745 715120, or e-mail korkythekat@aol.com for a full file of detailed pictures.

I'll keep it in mind Bruno, but at the moment I'll hold out for someone with cash. Thanks for your enquiry.

Just to note, car is located in the Norwich area.

Hi Cefiro Drifter. The Merc may be of some interest. Which model is it exactly? Year, condition etc? Have any pics? PM if you like.

TwinTurboCH, thanks for the offer, but an S14 doesn't fit the bill.

Hi Marakon. The rear exhaust section was hit by the car that ran into the Skyline. Its pushed it across and compacted the bends in the section. If I couldnt get a replacement, I'd get some pipe sections and rebuild it. The cars still in daily use, and you could drive it away. Still MoT'd til 13th Sept.
