MX5 1.8i SOLD

SOLD ... SOLD... SOLD... SOLD... SOLD...

A sale just fell through on our MX5 as it has come to light it is a cat C repaired car. Side note, dont use the text HPI checks as it came up clear on that! We need money desperately, so this or the bmw has to go.

We were told when we bought it, that someone had reversed into the wing, where one of the airbag sensors are, an that set the airbags off, in turn the insurance companys wont touch it straight away, so didnt bother with going through them, and just got a new wing put on it etc, and didnt do the air bags.

so we did a text HPI check, had a look on the logbook, and both came up clear, (still nothing on the logbook) So knocked some cash off for not having airbags and went on our way. Anyways onto the present day, the sale fell through as the guy did a proper HPI and it said extensive crash 04.10.2002.

Back to the point in hand, we need to sell one of the cars, but as we have found out this is a Cat C, it has imediately dropped in value, but it still drives fine, we havent had a problem with it at all. I would love to drift it in fairness but something has to go till we get back on our feet.

The car has done just over 65,000 miles, has an MOT till November, and is taxed till December, and as its a 1.8 has a decent diff to get you going. Cars that arent cat C of similar age and mileage are normally going between 4.5 to 5k, but obviously we wont get that now. However it would make an awesome drift car, and could be had for cheapness....

more pictures will follow...

and what I would make it look like if I had cash (or keep it if the beemer sells then get cash)

pic request... slammed mx5's mk2

more inspriation.

Anyway sorry for the stupid long thread but i'd rather hust be honest with it, and you might as well know as much as I know. As for price, Its hard for me to say now, as I dont normally deal with these things... what would be a fair asking price?

dont you get some sort of insurance/guarantee when you history check a car incase you find out something later that didn't show on the hpi check, i know i was told this whenever i've hpi checked a car (although i've always used the AA).
or maybe you could go and see a solicitor and get him to write a letter to the person you bought it from threatening legal action as it against the law to knowingly sell a car which has been a write off and not to disclose the information if asked, presuming you did straight out ask him ???

when i bought my 1st s14 it was a cat C and the people at the AA hpi check said it would be worth about 30% less than current market value, so if market value on the mx5 is still 4.5k its still worth just over 3K.

well we want about 2k for it if we can get it, as that will sort the money problem, we have at the minute and put us back on the straight and narrow.

As for the HPI details, it was just a text to some number, (forgot it now, had it in my old phone) that was supposed to do it quick, but like i say came back clear, an yes i asked him, and got the story as above.

well if you asked him straight out and he lied then you could sue him but then that would cost money but im sure you'd win.

Im just wanting cash tbh, if i took your car, ill end up keeping all the good bits of the 335, and make no money anywhere, which still leaves us in the shit financially, pm me how much cash my way out of interest.
