***SOLD*** – Nissan 200SX S13 V8 Drift Car 5.0 Litre 318 BHP I have owned this car for about 5 years. When I bought it, it was a fairly standard road car with the original CA18 DET engine, and some minor mods including after-market exhaust, intercooler and air filter. The intention was originally to just weld the diff and use it for Drifting. At the time the Teesside Autodrome Track was hosting the Northern Drift Championship, so I entered it for something a bit different. I ended up finishing 2nd place which I had not expected, but I was up against some much more powerful cars running V8s, so after that I decided I needed more power. After a little research, I found a Pontiac Firebird 5.0 Ltr V8 engine and manual gearbox, so decided to use it to make a mean Drift Car. But first the engine needed bringing in to the 21st century if it were going to make the power and reliability we dreamed of, so the original cast iron heads were binned in favour of some TrickFlow high flow alloy heads from an American tuning supplier, along with a performance cam, high ratio roller rockers, street Warrior inlet manifold, brand new Crank shaft and performance shells, new piston rings, lightened billet flywheel, uprated clutch and high pressure oil pump. The original engine was removed, and the V8 offered in, that was when we realised there would need to be some serious cutting and welding mods to the bulkhead area in order for the new engine to fit! The centre of the bulkhead was moved back, and the tunnel raised, and when the engine finally fitted in the hole, the engine mounts could be fabricated. We were happy with the final positioning, as we didn't want too much weight over the front of the car, and we finished up with the weight centre very close to the original design. Once the engine was installed, work began hooking everything up, but as this was a very rare engine swap, everything had to be custom made. The hardest thing to make were the manifolds, which were fabricated basically from scratch. When first built, we installed side exit exhaust pipes, but later improved the exhaust design with a twin rear exit system and a crossover pipe to improve torque. The original distributor was removed in favour of an electronic ignition system based on the Ford EDIS system. The original power steering pump and rack were retained in order to maintain the car's original steering set-up. The rest of the ancillaries were installed (i.e. throttle cable, alternator brackets, custom prop shaft, fuel lines etc) to complete the engine install. Work now moved to the interior:- The interior was stripped out to save weight, a full roll cage was fabricated and welded in, bucket seats and 4 point harnesses were installed and we were good to go. We took the car to John Sleeth to have it properly set up on the rolling road, and it made 318HP, however, HP figures don't mean a lot, as it is torque that is required for drifting. It made a whopping 407 NM, and maintained close to this figure from around 1500RPM to the rev limiter at 6000RPM. Note:- The rev limit has been increased since then to around 6400RPM, and the later exhaust design noticeably improved the torque, but we never got it dyno'd to prove this (we didn't need to). Since building this car, it has been to numerous Drifting events, and has proved very reliable, and a very capable car. It has so much torque that you don't even need to change gear!!!!! It can drift the whole Teesside Autodrome Track in 3rd gear in the dry, and 4th gear in the wet. There is a video of it drifting here The full spec of the car is below:- Engine :- Small Block Chevy V8 ( 305 CU Inch ). This is still for sale, £6995 o.b.o. P.S. I've not been on here for a while. Best to contact me on my mobile, cheers.
Price dropped to £6400. Just to add some extra info, since this car was fitted with a rear exit exhaust system, it not only improved torque noticably, but it made it much quieter, and it now produces a lovely sound that doesn't crackle like in the vid.
