That was me. and its pritty much the same thing at every dwyb lol I wouldn't say there is enough people at every dwyb to have a seperate queue setup at the moment and we'd probable have more stoppage time for clear up accident damage

One thing that would be very helpful is people actually trying to avoid the cones every now and again

One thing at Buxton, they do make sure you know that your car could be written off or go home a scrap heap. Also your bringing your car to the track, so you never know what can break on a car during drifting. To be fair the top track at POD is larger than Buxton yet Buxton fits 15 cars on that tiny track skidding at one time.

The thing to note about this (MOST IMPORTANT PART OF IT ALL) these guys trust each other and don't go out deliberately to run you down to make you crash. They push and thrive on twinning, getting better and eat it up when some paint is traded. Every event I have attended, doesn't hold a candle to the camaraderie of the Buxton regulars. Other places I have made great friends but the events aren't as social.

It would have to come down to stickers and the DWYB marshals to give and taketh away as seen fit. Also remember they could be in a seperate line because the experience, hardly see a spin out on the train so they eat up less time for their laps. That should speed up queues a bit, just by alternating train then non train back and forth. Norfolk runs the same way, Group A more experienced drivers and Group B newcomers, (or test pilots for adjusted car settings).

I think I watched the Marshalls spend over half the day picking up cones at the top track. Probably a few contributed by myself

Just piggybacking on the idea. Either way I still love to skid POD!

cone collecting and putting the track right was the largest part of my day lol.

the long drag down from the top corner was to make people learn to exstend the drift while slowing down also you could quite happily do the whole top corner to the hairpin in 3rd but with a wider line (you have to not mind getting close the the blocks with some commitment though) we try to tweek the track to keep it interesting and challenging so that everyone can learn and inprove within the same general layout just with tweeked corner placement.

I really liked the extended back corner, its pretty quick, and you can get close to the concrete blocks. It was doubly good for me as my hand brake broke after my 3rd or 4th run so had to do it on the foot brake which was another challenge and learning curve for the day

I think tweaking the track is awesome, at the end of the day change breeds improvement. Maybe an idea could be to put designated clips in and around the place that move in relation to the tweaks? Say some slightly larger cones or maybe even some sort of markings on the asphalt? (for when the cones get taken out!!)

As for the twinning idea I think it would be great, however as said it would have to be worked out well as there are so many varying levels of ability at DWYB, the sticker idea sounds the winner. Plus if it were grouped there would have to be some sort of queing method so that people didnt loose track time.

At the end of the day I personally really like pod and think its a great venue and I always enjoy myself there. However change is not always a bad thing and it doesnt have to be huge either, just a little tweak here and there could make it even better

Good to hear people liked the layout, it felt good to drive round just didn't have my 13 with me to rip it up as well.

as far as clipping points go I don't think it would work too well as I don't think pod would like us to tell people to get close to hard objects, and they have only just put in all the big metal fence posts by the strip. we may be able to mark the tarmac but they hold lots of other events as we all know so would most likely not want a painted track on the floor as well. I wouldn't mind using bigger cones on some corners, it might mean people avoid plowing over the cones when they get their line wrong then lol.

Lex will see all of these comments and review them I'm sure.

rads, in the past ive marked out a few of the clipping points before by putting old throw away coffee cups on top of them.
its good to see people are interested in taking correct lines.

Clipping points would be a good idea as I'm struggling to find the best line for top corner into the tight hair pin

the best line very much depend on the car/power/grip/pressure in rear tyres.

for most cars though you need to take a wide line to be able to make it all the way round but if your car hasn't got the power for the amount of grip then you won't be able to keep the wheels spinning at the higher speed. you can get round this a bit with more pressure in the rears but then it might be too loose for the rest of the track.
