| The basics of drifting?
Is there any good tutorial videos etc that anyone can reccomend? Obviously just need to get out there and practice but a video for some rough idea on technique would be good. Also, where does everyone practice..? Don't slate/flame but: Car park, beach etc? |

IMO videos teach you nothing. You see people wanking over the Drift Bible DVD, but watching it teaches you fuck all, it teaches you how to pretend you know what you doing if you dont plan to ever drift. If you actually plan to drift, it wont help you one jot. Streeto/carparko/beacho/whatevero will teach you surprisingly little too as you either got nothing to aim for, too much to hit to go all out, or get arrested if you go all out. Best VFM to learn shit is to just go to a DWYB at Pod and go play about, youl go from not being able to do a donut to drift ok within the day.

Which is why there is an abundance of kitted up JDM tyte S-bodies driven by lifestylers. ![]() Get a RWD car, Go to Pod.. Get Lex/Chunk/Belinda/etc in passenger seat, listen, learn... Have fun. 15mins sitting next to someone who knows what they are doing is better than a lifetime of watching videos ![]() Easy peasy |

Yep a day at DWYB would be best or even do a drift school. I done the first JDM Allstars drift school at Teesside, then bought a BMW 328 and just been messing about in car parks and streeto as Pod is 4hrs away. Messing about in car parks/streeto is dodgy, I got section 59, and 3 pts for having bald tyres.

| You'd be by far better off, safer and legal to just keep on going to Pod or other Drift days. Copper see's you doing that on a road and you will be fucked.

I understand fully where your coming from and I don't condone endangering other road users, but say an empty air field, what harm is there in that? It doesn't make sense to me popping around £60-£300 each time I want to practice drifting. I'm not saying I want to go on the road and put other people in danger but surely there must be some 'free' alternatives to practice at between drift days/sessions/events. No one may want to admit it in fear of being slated/flamed but I'm sure 99.9% of people practiced somewhere other then a drift day when they started.. |

No we didnt mate Back in the day we waited for conedodges to come round every 2 months or so ![]() before that people went to Turweston or even curborough sprint track ![]() These days the UK drift scene is so lucky that we have so many regular drift practice areas available You have asked for advice , you have been given spot on advice and yet you dont spend to spend any money to learn how to drift and support the venues that are going out of the way to help drifting grow ![]() If there really was FREE and legal drifting to be had dont you think all of us on here who have been into to drifting for quite some time now would be there at every single opportunity we had

I have every intention of going to regular drift events, espescially to learn at the beginning. I simply asked if anyone had any favoured off the track practicing areas. I appreciate the advice and have taken it into account. Cheers. | |

There's plenty of people who will jump in with you or show you in your car at DWYB mate. I havn't been helping for a little while but I'd always show people whatever I wanted them to do first. People always learn quicker if you show them what they are trying to achieve rather than just battering the car in confusion. For what its worth I disagree with all the people on here who reckon its a waste of time watching videos. Of course they wont teach you to drift but once you get in a car you'll learn much faster if you've got half an idea from watching the Drift Bible or whatever. The stuff in the Drift Bible is a little outdated but the techniques that are in there make for better drifting than all the people that rely on clutch kicking and handbrakes these days.
