    Is200 or not to is200?

Howdy all first time I've posted hopefully I get a reply haha got a question there's
Possibly an is200 going cheap at work head gasket blown it's the 2 ltr non turbo engine
not sure if they are any good for drifting had a small drive when I fitted 2 new front calipers to it
Donkeys ago but just thinking for £200-250 is it worth throwing a head gasket at it for a bit of drifty fun and sell it after
or break it? Just thought a few peeps on here would know Abit more than me about these
    Cheers!

Buy it, replace head gasket, weld diff, coilovers have fun, a mate bought one a couple of months ago and seems to be having loads of fun with it, as well as being a pimp car.
Having fun, that's what Drifting is all about, keep it that way.

Loverly cars but are completely gutless below 3.5k and then still not so great after that, but if it's only a couple of hundred quid and you're gonna do the head gasket yourself then why not

Yea that's what I thought to be fair if I can get it for £200 even if it has fucked the head I can weigh it in for 160 more if I can Wang some truck discs in it haha I'll be doing the head gasket myself anyway looks a piece of piss the car ain't in that bad condition either would be a shame to scrap it do they have any ESP or anything I would need to delete? Not too sure haven't had a proper scout round the car yet 12 months motmotmot too

Slight difference in price between a £200 knackered IS and an Altezza though don't you think?!?!?

Don't get me wrong, the IS is gutless and stupidly thirsty for something with such little power. But if it was a choice over a £200 IS or a £3000 Altezza, I know which I'd choose.

But as above, I'd grab a 14 that needed work before the Toyota or Lexus!

Have to admit I was sorely tempted by a 200 a while ago, this one was up for 1400, though, it drove quite nice but did feel a bit sluggish.
But put it down to the exhaust and intake being a bit restricted.
Uncork it with some other tweaks and it would be fun!

Yea there's two whopping great cats on the manifold looks expensive started stripping it down found all 6 cylinders full of water when I used the bore scope heads about ready to come off but was held back when my partner in crime managed to lock the keys in the car almost had to use a brick to get in but managed to use some banding to pop the handle after alot of swearing

haha...nice score matey!!! Can't see it being too difficult to get more go out of it..... While you got the head off, get in there with a dremel and open the ports, you will free things up a fair bit more with a nice induction kit (not filter bolted to the maf) get rid of all the ribbed tubing to the plenum and change it for ether silicone, alloy or stainless then a nice free flowing zorst.... bin the cats, might be worth looking at an aftermarket tubular manifold if you can find one cheep, then decent size pipe to the rear! try to keep the noise down mind as some places have a sense of humor failure with loud NA cars.... but turbo ones seem to get away with it for some reason??!!
