online is fine, as people dont need to buy it then, which is the main issue.

but then you still gotta find people who can be bothered to make it...

To be fair I'm sure you could wrangle enough people from this forum alone that would be able to cover all the skills necessary and want to actually do it too.

I don't want to take the mickey in case James, Phil or Bon slap my wrists but if anyone is interested in this kind of thing (including James, Phil or Bon) please send me an e-mail to: danielgoodyer@hotmail.co.uk - just stating:

whereabouts you are
what skills you can bring (writing/photography/video/web, etc)
brief history of your association with drifting (driver/fan/official, etc)

The plan was to have something going right now but there has been a problem with some name-sharing which still needs sorting. Anyway, let's see who's up for doing something and see what happens?

[Mods - feel free to remove this if I'm stepping on toes]

I would probably subscribe to something like this ^^^
I only really read Jap Performance as i have it on subscription but tbh i prob wouldnt buy it any more as it doesnt really cover what im in to now. I would like to see more coverage of drifting in the mags but like has been said, you writers/editors have targets and a diverse audience to please. Not everyone who reads jp is into drifting, so they only cover EDC, whereas i would like to see coverage of other events aswell. I think an actual e-zine (or what ever you call them) on here of all the news items on the front page, along with any tech stuff and anything else, updated monthly could only be a good thing. As you can see, im only a newby but have owned my 200 for three years and got into the initial drift scene then (as an outsider) so i have seen things come and go.

Just my 2 cents, sorry for long post

Yeah, but you can't read that or an ezine like Wrecked in the little boy's room unless you take your computer in there. I know that might not be a problem with you but for most people, taking a laptop into the toilet does look a little suspicious

Shame they can't do a mag over here like Drift Battle do in Australia.

Drift Battle is no more! Stopped making it while I was living in Adelaide. Maybe things have changed now, but last year it stopped printing!

Kawabata San sent me a magazine a few months ago called 'Drift and Drive', complete with cover DVD. On the DVD was all the famous faces like Kazama and no Tsuchiya and they went in good details about the effectiveness of the design of a steering rod end and how different designs change the lock and geometry of the steering. I thought it was fascinating!

Thats D to D mag, a tie in with the MSC championship, nothing to do with D1/Option, cant see the market supporting something that big here though

Thats the jobbie! I can't confess I could actually read it (I still find myself flicking through it backwards by accident), but you can get a good idea of what they're on about. I don't know another magazine that covers in depth look at hubs and how to make a V-Mount as well as these do.

That said, as K-San himself said: Linkeh linkeh

I was surprised by the number of non shop made vehicles and the standard of the home made builds was outstanding, which is different than Japan.Home made builds tend to be low quality in Japan which is why shops are more widespread and build up names.
So I guess there is a lot more of a scope for tuners to sell and fund a mag, and people need to read the mags to find out what bits and which garage they want to take their beloved cars to?

I used to buy Jtuner, Banzai and Jap performance, as I was only intrested in Jap metal as Skylines and RX7 were the only cars that got me excited. Bare in mind i bought these before i could drive and for a couple of months after i could drive....I bought them for 3 simple reasons... first off..the pictures...nice shiny cars looking all clean and that gave me ideas that one day my car might look like that on a magazine page.
The Second reason i bought the mags was for the articles, specially the build projects and thirdly i bought them for what was for sale. Hoping to purchase my own piece of shiny magazine loveliness.

The first drifting article I ever came across was Chris "Paz"'s AE86 Trueno in i think it was Jap Performance. That gave me a rough idea of this retro looking heap of 21 year old toyota and started me on the road to owning one. Realisticly the only Jap RWD i could afford to buy and insure, being still only 21.

However also mentioned in this article was Team NightSpirit and the now widely famous Driftworks.com.
So i had a look on the net for this driftworks.com and obviously i found the three things on here that i'd bought the mags for in the first place...

The articles : Front Page ( Although i'd like to see them updated more often, What exactly does Team DW do when they aint drifting? Sit around polishing Bons noggin? )
Tech Section, builds galore!! and now my own car included, which would never have happened in a mag. And if you see something neat on someone elses car you can even contact the owner and ask him/her how they did it and even get contact numbers for the garages involved in the work.

The Pictures : Media Section, Pic of the day thread, All the Car Porn i can handle but never afford.

For Sale Section : Way more up to date than a mags for sale section, and again you can contact the owners via PM and try and rape them for a cheaper price (not sexually rape, cos apparently thats bad, but only if they dont enjoy it )

And what do i have to go for all this whirlpool of knowledge and constantly updating articles/pictures and general bizarre group of people. Get on my computer, click "driftworks.com" and enjoy away.

I dont have to leave the house and more importantly at the moment, i dont have to wait a month for it to be updated and it wont cost me £4.50 or whatever the current prices are.

Always interesting to me that the biggest viewings on the DW Forum seem to be:

The Build Threads, followed by the Media section, or sometimes the otherway round depending on the time of day.

Ha ha! That's not how it works. The journos don't set the price, and we certainly don't keep the money! LOL

And I'm pretty sure you're thinking of Paz's feature in J-Tuner, not Jap Performance, during it's green, 16v 4AGE + 14" watananananananabeeeee spec.

Fair enough Dan i take back the Journo comment

Was it Jtuner? I still got it somewhere i think.

For some idea, i've just gone and found a Drift Tengoku that Dori Dave let me have and for a 250page plus magazine, the price is 500yen. which is what? a couple of quid? take away them 50 pages for all the adverts and shiz, thats still 200 odd pages of articles and features for a price cheaper than a pint. Where as brit mags charge you nearly 2 pints for a quarter of whats parked into this oddly, back to front printed Jap mag.

Print Redline back to front, just one issue and i promise it'll be the first time i ever buy it

That was in issue 1 of J-Tuner, and I wrote it. Over 3years ago now.
