Got my new skid car. now what? I just pickked my new bitch. Its a 535 sport E34. Its gonna be used for a bit of drifting and the odd track day. I know some people are quite brutal when it comes to stripping their cars but i dont want to go mad and i like my comforts. especially when i take her to the ring. It has LSD as standard which will have to do until it breaks, i dont really want a welded one, i know it will be a bit lazy but it will have to do. I want to get a hydrolic h/brake as the stock one is shite. The seats are pretty supportive, so i will try a set of harnesses first, if it it feels like i'm still gonna fall out the window i will stick some buckets in it. I have seen a few sets of lowering springs on ebay which drop it 30 or 40 mm, i'll probably get some of these and poly bush the front while i'm at it. What other things am i going to need to, or is it a case of suck it and see then address issues as they occur. It seems to understeer a bit at the moment, anyone know how i can reduce this?, will dropping the front help this. Euro style seems to be to have the back higher than the front but i dont like the look, does this reduce u/steer? I ultimately want more power and some spare wheels. I think turbo or supercharger is the way forward, ![]() Last edited by Antnicuk : 27-04-2008 at 15:51.

i have drifted my RX7 and my TT supra before but they had much more power. I think the lack of power will show my lack of skill. Dont get me wrong, I'm not looking to enter competitions, just have something that i can take to events and enjoy.

Nice buy mate, you'll have some fun in that. Bimmers usually understeer initially as standard. You'll get used to it quickly, you just need to shift the weight a bit more by turning the other way first and also foot braking a bit on entry (go into it faster). There's quite a lot of interior in them, it does make quite a difference if you are able to strip the worst of it. Even removing the seats just for the drift days makes a huge difference. They feel much more playful plus gives some room for spare wheels and stuff!

What that lacks in power from your old ricers it makes up for in low down torque and lazy drifting handling. The e34's Ive drifted Ive found need a bit of a good flick and kick to get em out, probably due to their weight and oem handling specs, but once sideways they are pretty easy to drift.

A 535 lacking power? Now thats funny I drive a 318iS E30, and I've seen the odd person with less powerful cars (names 318's and volvo 340's) getting sideways quite well!Pass me your car for a run at DWYB and we'll see shall we ![]() A welder will make it MORE understeery until the back end goes, but once the back end goes you will LOVE it. But to get rid of understeer, at least a bit, strip it out a little and lower and STIFFEN the suspension, less body roll = less understeer at this level. Oh and make it so your rear seats just pop out really easily, so you can whip them out on a drift day and sling them back in after, as they weigh a tonne.
