BMW e30 316i???

my first cars life came to an abrupt end, and was a volvo 1.7. im looking into other cars and am looking at geyting another volvo or a 316i e30

what are peoples experiences with these. are they better for skidding than the volvo or should i not bother with the bm and get another volvo?

and i cant afford a 2 litre bm or anything like as i dont have a years experience or no claims yet

Cheers

Ant

Lots of people seem to think a 316 is lacking in poke for good skidding but I can't see how it would be any different to a 1.7 volvo, although I'm not familiar with them. Just pump the tyres up to high pressures and go faster into the corners and it should do the trick. Bimmers are great as bargain drift cars IMO. They do well as track cars with only some cut springs, etc.

i was thinking the same in that it weighs a bit less i think and has more power that the volvo, but have seen people saying dont bother with bimmers unless they are a 2 litre (not including the 36 18is)

I learnt in an e30 318is, it was excellent (until I wrapped it around a tree). Lovely high revving engine which I thought was much better than the other models when it was drove in the high revs as it should be.

316i is infinately better than a crappy volvo. Mine started life as a 316 and it was great fun Was actually faster on the 1/4m than my mate's 320i! Don't let anyone tell you it hasn't got enough power.

kool i started in a e30 316i i slamed it welded the diff shitty biskit rims was well gd in the rain in the dry u need to gaver speed in to round abouts but you do get to a point when u need more power but to learn in it its allgood and learning in some thing with lower (bhp) puts you on the smoth root so when you get more powerful you become smooth and quick with loads of control!
cheers skipper

Insurance on an iS isn't any more, but power is a lot better, but cost will rape you instead. You'll be lucky to pick an ok iS up with an MOT for under £800, whereas you can pick up a 318 for £300 or so, there's one for sale on TD for £500, drift ready, buckets, stripped, the lot.
