Gangsta Drift... what do you think?

Hi guys(and ladies?),

I'm pretty new on the forums here and just wanted a quick yea or neigh on something I've been thinking about..."Gangsta Drift". I know some members on here drive/drift some of the 4 door saloon variants that our friends in Japan created: Laurels, Cefiros, Chasers etc. so I hope there will be some positive responses.

Personally, I think there is something strangely compelling about seeing a large barge of a car sideways and especially when finished in black I could see some Mafioso bosses stepping out of the rear doors.

Below are a few examples of what I'm talking about. Basically, I just wanted to see what you guys think as they definitely aren't your conventional S13 or S14.

Are they or ?

Everyone's going nutty for "errghh pimp pimp pimp pimp.. ergh... 4 door ergh pimp pimp pimp pimp skid skid". Sure you'll have a decent market share depending on price/spec/reliability etc etc.

The price would be one concern I have. I used to assume people chose a 4 door(e.g. R32 GTS-T) as they seem to usually undercut a 2 door. These examples ain't cheap, but they mostly seem to be done well and in pretty good nick. I think the cost could/would put people off.

Who would skid in something that cost about £7000?

Wrong. Lots of people do.

However, this appears to be a thinly veiled advert so if you want it to continue, you'll have to speak to Phil or James.

depends on what car it is, the spec (power, suspension, meeting regs etc.) and if i was a good enough pilot not to crash it

It's no advert. I own none of these cars, nor have(yet) the right to sell them.
All I asked for was an opinion. I'm just bored of looking for the same old Silvias and Skylines, but unsure of how popular this type of car could/would be. I think they're cool, but that's just one opinion, hence my original question.

The purple lad is not for sale. It's my demo car and is destined to be another four wheeled money pit that I'll regret when I'm struggling on my pension.

Just in case new readers find this thread doesn't make sense, it was amended before I get banned or cavity searched for asking a question that could be interpreted as advertising an anonymous service and/or product.

Back on topic, could any BMW fans be tempted to go Jap by these?

Not quite sure what forums Mitch has been reading, but I don't see any awful lot of people here with cars that cost £7k+ in near standard form.

That's very strong money to pay for the sake of being different.

I just don't see there being much of a market for them when you consider you could probably get a 5 series preped for some serious skidage for half that figure.

I'd have to say,

that if you added up the total spend in parts and labour a very large percentage (30% maybe) of the actual drivers on this forum are effectively driving round in 7k cars.

Pimp skidders are way cool (been there done that) but luggagehaul drift is 2009

And none of the cars pictured above are standard. So your point is?

And to the thread starter, if you arent a trader why do you care what other people think? If you want one for yourself then buy one.

Well, I'm not going by any forums I've been reading, I'm going by my last 3 cars and no one said anything about standard form as far as I can see, which was why I mentioned it.

Anyway, the first thread was a feeler for who would be interested in buying 4 door drifters and has now been edited.

Its only stuff like this and possibily a nicely done r32/r33 that ever tempts me away from BM's.
I know one day, whether its soon or far away Im not sure lol, I will be looking at spending 5k ish on a car. Before I had heard of drifting my choices were simple, m3 or m5.
Now theres Chasers, Cefiro's and r33 gts-t's to worry about.
