Where can i find a reliable drift car for 6-8K

Hello

If i were looking for a reliable drift car and was willing to spend around £6-8K, what type of modified car would be recommended and where is the best place to source one? Private adds? Current drift vehicle?

Cheers

You could import one for that kind of money mate, have a word with either Autospecs or Powervehicles on here.

I'd go for something Toyota shaped personally.

Id probably take that route as well - thats quite a lot of money for a drift car and should get you something proper tasty

Ok sorry to maybe hijack this, but is there any such thing as a reliable drift car? I run two cars because i dont think drift cars can be relyed on, but eventually would like just one car, does anyone skid their daily driver?

A Toyota shaped toy would be good, but if its a slightly rare car it wont be easy/cheap to fix if it does break, so maybe something like a skyline??

Loads of people drift daily drivers with no problems. The problems start when you fit shonky mods/fit them badly or spec stuff wrong.

8-9K will get you a great daily skidder. Think last of the S14a`s/R34 GTst with some mild engine and suspention mods and nice interior.

Im sure there are others too - be interesting to see if any of the 350/400hp cars are dailies though

It'll be helpful if you state what your wanting with it. Do you want a lifestyler car? A part-time drifter/daily drive? Or a BDC/EDC spec hardcore drifter? All of these can be unreliable depending on previous owners usage and maintenance.

Basically it would be my track toy. I am looking for a car that I can drive to the track have a laugh and come home. I would even consider getting a trailer and making it a pure track toy. Ultimately, this car would not be my daily runner but a focused drift toy.

The reason I want to commit to a decent car is because I have set myself a goal for the next year and that is
1) In 2007 - Get a good reliable car, lots of lessons and get competitive at drifting
2) 2008 - Enter in to the BDC and try not to embarrass myself too much.

I just do not have the mechanical knowledge or time to keep tinkering with an unreliable car.

Hi Suprmek1

I have allocated a budget for maintenence and driving lessons so £6-8K for a car is good.

Agreed buy that now if I were you. Or give me £8k and I'll build you a sexy weapon all caged and ready to go

Thats similar to what I was looking for the last 2 months. Sounds like you want a BDC/EDC ready car, ready to skid and just maintenence to worry about. I was fortunate enough to snap this up for a budget similar to yours:BDC/EDC spec PS13, BDC pro rd1 2nd place car

Your in the right price range for a solid track based competitive drift car. Your best keeping an eye on the for sale section on DW. You COULD buy elsewhere but the advantage of buying from DW member cars is they're vouched for and probably have a handy recorded history via the Projects/Builds section. Also you can trace it's history via the sellers username and check post history etc. Not possible with an import. The downside is the waiting game, it's down to luck the right one turns up.

Another avenue is the trusted import companies on DW that bring in great cars(japaneseusedcars/powervehicles) the tradeoff is the shipping time, possible damage when on ships, registering hassle etc BUT you can pretty much buy what your looking for from them and specify the build.

Hope this helps.

Just keep an eye on the For Sale section of this forum daily. Remember it IS down to luck the right one comes up and, just as important, with a honest knowledgable owner (as was the case with Hexham-Scotty).

In the end you have the DW authorised dealers who will and can provide you with exactly what you need as a failsafe. And another plus is the longer you wait the more money you save so you can secure a better spec BDC/EDC pre-built drift car or imported from above dealers. Good luck dude, I'm sure the right one will come up.
