Using a category C write off

anybody done this before,im repairing a 33 ,it was a uneconomical repair and now i want it back on the road ???

Yup , just need the checks done after its repaired , my cabriolet is on Cat C , but was written off back in 1992 and repaired then.

Can't remember the exact procedure , I think it needs checking at a VOSA station , look on the website.

it may need a vic ( vehicle identification check ) at a vosa test station. depends on the damage really

cat C usualy requires a VIC, just to make sure its not had the identity changed(stop ringing), nothing to worry about....

yeah a VIC, i had to do it with my old golf over near oxford somewhere but theyres a few around the country

It does. A mate from work put a Cat C back on the road and it needed a VIC and MoT.

From experience

It needs to have a valid MOT and then needs to go for a VIC check.

When you apply for a V5 the DVLA will send you a letter saying car is registered to you but that to obtain a V5 you need to complete a £38 VIC check first.

Take car to nearest VOSA centre and it takes about 15minutes. Then they give you a letter and mark it on the dvla computer and you can re-apply for free from the V5.

The V5 will show thats its been a damaged repaired vehicle.

thanks peeps ,but the insurance company have told me to keep the v5 ??? shall i bother with a v.i.c
