First ever drift car you used on track.

Just thought I'd set this thread going to see how much drifting has evolved in quality with the folk on here.

Few things actually.. Aimed at those who's been in the game a while and who are just starting out.

1: What did you start off in, and what was your inspiration?
2: How long have you been at it, in a competitive level?
3: What do you drive now, and has it been a sucess from start?

1. Sierra 2.0, inspiration for car was my dad, inspiration to drift was early drift-folk at SXOC meets.
2. Competitive only since this year due to cash, drifting since 2005.
3. Drive an e30 335i, first competitive season and I'm doing OK.

1. Sierra 2.0 twincam, inspired by MJG... it was his car ha.
2. Been doing it just for a laugh for about 2 years, but being a young apprentice makes it hard to compete ($$$). Next year
3. Drive a Nissan S13 gayrod now which is fair fancy. Should be right good for the job

1. First drifted a volvo 340 with a renault engine and my first drift car was a 340 1.7 - i cant remembered what inspired me particularly, but the drift honeymoon was started by a passenger ride at JAE in 2005 i think.

2. Been doing it on and off for a year ish, dont do comps, im still shit

3. Got a Nissan S12 now and its also shite, but its good fun. It's definately not a success lol

1: Volvo 340 1400cc, Seeing Sid chuck his old 340 1.7 looked like a good laugh and i wanted to learn with a low power car.
2: My 1st comp was Eurodrift round 4 at Teesside last year, I qualified 5th in Pro, beating alot of EDC drivers
3: Building a RB26DET powered R32 Skyline 4dr, it's not quite finished yet, when it is you'll all be aware, VERY aware

1) Ren's old E36 325, he let me have a shot in it and I was instantly hooked. An incredible car that will never be matched on toughness in my eyes.
2) Have entered 3 competitions, qualified in two of them despite having fairly low powered cars. Have serious doubts I will ever be good enough to be competitive, but theres no other buzz like it so want to keep doing it as long as I can afford it/be arsed.
3) E36 325, fantastic car but underpowered/overweight compared to all the turbo'd jap stuff (about to be addressed with the addition of a 1JZ). A few suspension tweaks, a few tarty cosmetic things, and maybe some cams, then its off to save to try and do as much of a season as I can next year (not just do the first Teeside event then sack it off for the rest of the season like I have the last 2 years ).

1: Started off in my road car (200sx s14a), which I bought so I could have a Daily Drifter. Seemed like the best choice after reading up up on it and visiting a few drift days as a spectator.
2: Been drifting on and off for 4 years, but have only competed a few times (end of 2006 and early 2007).
3: Currently drifting an SR20 s13 (Sil80) as a dedicated drift-only car. Yes, success from the start. Like it

1: 50 quid E30 320, free day at Lydd.
2: Been at it since the first day at Lydd. Not really at a competitive level or I'd make it past qualifying more often.
3: MX5, it got me in to the top 8 at Eurodrift last year. It's much improved this year but so is everyone else.

1 - Inspiration was watching vids of D1 drivers/competitions. I previously owned RWD cars and hugely enjoyed skidding at opportune moments (just simple powerovers ect) whilst fast road driving. I then found out it was an actual recognised motorsport.
What I like about drifting is the fact you can use a street legal car and also potentially compete with it to the highest level. This sounded fun as I could use the car to hit the country roads, take it to circuits and also drift. So I bought a drifty PS13.

2 - Been on 4 practice days since I started my involvement in drifting in '06. Obtained a Eurodrift license. But due to a business opportunity back in '06 I never got round to competing because I chose to sell the car and dropped out of the scene as quickly as I got involved

3 - Two months ago I bought another PS13 thats up to competition standard as I plan to continue where I left off. The scene has changed a lot since I was last involved. It's much more organised, much higher standard of cars/drivers and many more people who know the sport generally which is great.

Been on a practice day recently at Teeside where the car felt great but I discovered the rose joints were buggered (this is currently being sorted along with other issues). The car is good so far, but when it's back it'll be fully rosejointed and properly aligned. Looking forward to more practice and gaining a license again.

1- skidded around in powerful RWDs for years, but 1st one bought purely with drifting in mind was my old S13 a few years ago. Inspiration was right from 2001 and before as JC used to send me v.early uk streeto etc vids. later it prob was bon in his old matt black E36, and phils old S14 (before DW existed, just seen him on track at TRAX etc).

2- not competed yet, though would like to as im incredibly competitive. but also incredibly lazy...

3- JZX81 Chaser, a car i've wanted for about 5yrs i reckon. Its been fantastic from the start as its competed in MSC and D1SL in Japan in 07. Not perfect, but its good enough.
