s15?

Do you think we are going to see a lot more 1999 s15's from the start of next year in the uk?

Price? Do you think it will go up or down from not having sv teat needed anymore. thinking about it i could go both ways
Its like the s2000 iv seen them go for as little as 7k now you don't need the svla teat on the older ones. crazy as i spent over 17k on one two and a half years ago.

spec? getting a lot more toys for your money will be sweet. As befor you had to get it to standard

I hope to see more but i hope more to have one one day.

if its like ireland the more that come in should bring the price down a little, but not much!!!! When altezzas started coming over here they were usually around 20,000 euro, now you pick up a decent one for 10-12k!!!!

I think they'll just depreciate gradually to start with like anything else. The price you pay for one in England is reflected upon the price paid at auction in Japan. So really it's gonna have to depend on the value in Japan.

However I don't think they'll hold their money so well in a couple of years as they do now.

They're a nightmare to sell currently. People don't think you're buying anything more than an S14a with different lights and a bit more status. Which I think is far from the truth, I find they drive 10x better than an S14, the performance is brilliant and they are such comfortable cars, the styling in and out is perfect (in my opinion anyway)

I let mine go for £8500 in the end as I just didn't want to wait for years to sell the bloody thing. I dropped it 2k in price as I hadn't had one spark of interest in the first month it was for sale!

I'd recommend one to anybody, other than an E36 M3 I don't think you'll get such a good all-rounder for your money!

What James Said, Couldnt agree more (But i am slightly biased!!!). They are way better than a 14 stock for stock

Even with the S15 dropping out side of the 10 year esva rule I cant see then dropping in price at all for a couple of years. All that means is that there will be more modded ones coming over from japan to our streets.. So, Potentially some bad ones comming over, potentially some awsome cars on the way... The good modified ones will just up the profile of the 15 even more i recon and make them even more desirable

yup must agree with the above, however im afraid it is now fact finding them in Japan is becoming alot harder; You'll find a Spec S turbod before a good Spec R.

i see loads for £10k but they never seem to sell... i would say they are worth more around the £7-8k mark.

So whats better about them than the s14a? is the chassis/suspension any different? I thought the engine was the same? I don't mean looks wise, but driving wise are they any different or are you just getting a newer car?

Enigine is in effect the same but with mods on the ignition side, BB Turbo on the early spec R's, different ECU Mapping and Better exhaust system hence why stock for stock the s15 makes more power (250ish) and torque over a 14a (200ish).

Chassis is more refined on the 15 and again stock for stock they handle way better than an equivelant 14. To be honest tho I dont know what the differences are chassis wise bar slightly different geometry and a huge amount of extra chassis bracing to be found in the S15. Then there is the helical diff which does actually rock for normal road use compared to the 14's lsd. OK, its not much cop for Dori but as a daily drive the Helical is in a different league!!!!

And its a newer car

The thing with the S15 is you are paying for something a little bit rarer than the norm and for me that extra layout in cash was worth just to feel that you in something just a little bit special

Royal: As per pretty much what Justin says, they have a close ratio 6 speed box as well which makes driving a spec R a lot different. The initial kick you get off the turbo is very sudden, you'll get full boost earlier however it runs out of puff before you hit the limiter!

I've gotta be honest I never did a lot of research on one technically, in all seriousness it is only a revised S14(a), it was the look of the thing that originally attracted me. It's definitely the most comfortable car I've ever driven, I could drive hundreds of miles and still feel fresh when I stepped out at the other end.

Chassis wise all I actually know of is stiffer springs! lol! I had S14 coilovers on mine! Some came with hicas, mine didn't however. The diff is really nice to drive with, it will lock suddenly but it's also very predictable. I found it spot on fo beginners drifting at TrampDrift.

Big gay wings were optional extra

S13/14's feel slightly dated these days I find, an S15 feels like a very modern car!

I agree 100% with Clarkey on the price however, they are still raking in the JDM tax, I have no regret about spending 10k on one though, I loved every minute! If it makes you smile, it's worth the money - simple as!

Cool, does sound like there's lots of worthwhile things for a road car. I agree about the previous ones feeling dated as well. My old 300zx's were the only road car I've ever had that could take me around the country and still feel fresh and good to go. There's a lot to be said for that!
I'd love to have one and they look really nice, but I'd find it hard to justify over the other things you could buy for the cash. I can't wait till they're affordable for skidding haha!

That works both ways I think. If you're talking about what you can buy as a standard car for looks/fun/performance/running costs/originality, an S15 has gotta be up near the top of the list.

You could buy something cheaper and turn it onto a better car for the same money however.

Depends on what you want from a car really. My AE86 is my daily driver, I don't think many people could bare 40 miles a day of rattles, bangs, noise, and a fricked stereo the way I can. But I prefer that to diesel golf which has a pretty blue dashboard and electric windows just like every other fricker on the road - it just doesn't make me happy! lol

Yeah, agree on all counts New 'normal' cars just seem like such a waste of money.

haha i was going to pick up on the mention there on a better car for the money ^.^

Imo you cant, but thats because im bias. You could get a faster car, but not of the same age / style of the s15. Iv driven an s14a and the differance is as said.. MASSIVE!

Check out Phil's build up to see ALL the additional bracing the 15 has over the 14. The power differance and indeed the ease of the drive. I drove mine 700+ miles home from Torque GT and i got out with the biggest smile on my face EVER! So comfy and fast i couldnt believe it.

I have noticed in secret tho that they are hard to sell which makes people drop the price etc >.< kinda worrying but i dont plan on selling mine so meh...
