| Initial_J's car may be burnt out!! Sh*t , just spoke with Initial_J and he's trekking through fields to try and get to the garage where his car is. Apparently a huge furniture warehouse which is directly attached to the garage is practically burnt to the ground. There's not much hope for the garage either. All the roads to the industrial estate are closed off because the firebrigade are still down there trying to get the blaze under control. He's hardly even skidded the car after the clutch broke on the first corner at Lydd! |

| and back. what a shit start to the day that was. basicaly the garage in question i work at occasionaly, mainly on my own car. so thats where its been kept whilst i wait for new clutch. its right next to (less than 100m) a pine furniture factory, size of 3 or 4 football pitchs. got a call to say it was on fire. took an hour and a half to get through to my garage on the phone, my mate dave got called out to get all the explosive things out as quick as possible early hours this morning, and start moving the customers car that were outside, then got pulled back half way through as it was too dangerous. whole factory has burnt to the ground, literaly. it had several million pounds of pine inside, so hardly suprising, i actually used to work there, and my old man is the deputy manager. Dave hasnt been able to access back to the garage, but he reckons structally, its still standing, and doesnt look to be too bad, as the wind was blowing the other way. however im thinking itll be fair to aim off that it may well be melted. wont know until i can get down there, but i cant see how anything much would of survived without damage from the heat of the warehouse going up. it must of been intense. just have to wait and see, insurance wise, not a massive problem as even if the garage doesnt cover it, the guy who owns the warehouse is a family friend and a multi millionare, so im sure hed square me away a new car (i frickin hope!) but all i know at the moment is in theory, it should be ok, but may well have a fair old bit of heat damage. im seriously lucky it was inside the garage, most of the customers cars live outside, it was only inside because i pushed it in last week to work on it, not like anyone would of been able to drive it out of danger with no clutch! will get pics up soon as i get down there. |

not sure yet, wouldnt be suprised if it was arson but too early to say, i cant imagine theyll stop it burning for at least 24 hours. its basicaly a giant kindling box, youll never put something like that out until its burnt everything there is to burn. all theyve done is just try and contain it. think it burnt the whole warehouse down in about 2 hours. | |
