Peeps with LOW drift cars, esp with hooj skirts- How do you jack yours up?

as per the Orange and a few race cars both us and GBH have done now.

It dont cost that much and means you never need worry about the problem ever again, and can be built into a rollcage spec to give extra strength and save costs.

I don't think it touches the rear panel - its mounted to a thick bar that goes between the two rear towing eye mounting points on the chassis rails.

Yeah, proper external jacking points like Topi and Bladey have shown is deffo the way to do it, Rich at work has built some in to the Scooby he building. Might have to shell out on hat kinda thing at some point in the future, as the rear solutions are possible, the front is purely a skirts and bumper off job, which is gay when you just want to drive

Aye, 99% sure it does, as this evening as I was scrabbling around on the floor, before you showed me that cool piece of kit, I noticed those bolts and where they mount to, and its fucking beefy there, that for sure.

Your drifting wrong if you have to change the front tyres at a meeting .

Both FC's I've seen (inc the one I'm getting) has 2 towing eyes under the front (same place each side) and 2 under the rear (same). These're pretty low (so you'll still have to use blocks of wood), but you CAN jack off them fine. They're vertical, and point at the floor. Don't jack off the round towing eye that sits just behind the front bumper - I'd not trust that!

Jord- Yeah fuck that, I just meant when other things go wrong, which they inevitably will, had blowouts at the front and all sorts with the Chaser, lol.

Paper- My car has none of these standard eyes, front or rear, and a massive kit that makes the front and rear protrude far further than normal so would cover them anyhow. Even the aftermarket eyes that have been fitted id not want to jack off- they too bendy and go thru the kit.
The stock places the eyes were mounted as standard deffo are useful tho I reckon

previously on my FC i simply jacked it up on the rear OEM tow eyes with a shitty halfords jack.. an arse to do each side but it worked.

Then i went to partco and got an £80 ally race jack.. not that works and can reach the diff 'just' and u get stupidly small amounts of movement initially but it DOES work. And obviously as it gets higher it gets better.


I will be investing in that jack setup thingy end of the year/ next year tho i think.. but means I will have to re-think my concepts for my fuel cell/ fueling system location.

Flik- So the rear diff on FCs are deffo safe to jack from then? Thas not so bad, tho it a fucker to even reach on mine as its ridiculous low even with the chocks.

Must admit, looking at the location of the cranking handle, it will be a bit of a flange to use that inbuilt jack, esp once off the ground a bit! lol.

Loking at the list of stuff that company makes, that jacks just for FCs.

As long as you strongly bolted or welded a strong enough bar between the 2 chassis rails to mount it to, you could fit it to anything with a wheel well really.

e36's have the holes in already for the stock jack to slide into. You can buy this little paddle to slot in and provide an external jacking point.


I know you dont have the holes currently but thought it might help if you go that way.

2 pages ? Mabey I am missing the point (had afew Stella's) but, go to local timber yard, get them to cut a fence post in half on the biggest angle they can. Place them behind rear wheels (pointy end towards the tyres) drive up them, jack car up under the diff (with any old trolley jack) job done ?

If you are feeling particuarly flush get 2 fence posts done (one for each wheel)

I have 4, use them for getting stupid low cars high enough to get the hoist arms under.

Had them 4 years now, best 8 quid I ever spent, and they come with me to every drift event.

Scotty- Thats the first thing I tried, as I do that every time and got tons of wood here, but due to the stupid kit and stupid lowness and stuff its the only car ive ever had where that wasnt piece of piss, hence asking if anyone had other ways!

Thats actually a great idea (e36 paddle thing).

Front should be just as easy to be honest, drive on some wood, jack from the front subframe and you can do both fronts at once. I've heard some bad stuff about alloy diffs cracking, but I've always had cast stock ones so never cared and just raised it from there.

so far aye.. seems to be fine but like i said has like the weakest arm movement ever to begin with!

same here as far as reaching it too. I can honestly say i have to 'gently nudge' it uder the diff.. and its not perfctly on it either. But obviously i make sure enough of it is on to make it safe -ish
