| first drift car?
realy stuck here. iam 19, have 2 years no claims and 2 years driving experiance, also 3 points for red light (TS10) just got a couple options here. 200sx (13 or 14) BMW E30 (325) AE86 basicaly it will be a first drift car. i want something that will be reliable as standard but easily moddable (chassis wize) i dont want to spend mega money on it as its just for learning and a bit of a beater. but i also want it to drift pretty well with stock power. any thoughts? ide be open to other cars as well that i may not have thought about. ta

| Not Impressed | I agree. I mean, what would happen if it got out that any old car powered through the rear wheels could be the ideal 'first drift car' and that all people need to do if they want to get into drifting is find a RWD car that they like within their price range, buy it and get to an actual fucking practice rather than sitting on an internet forum that ties in with drifting (loosely nowdays) waiting on suggestions on what car will make them instantly drift like a tofu delivery boy. My word, The sport would be ruined! |

Volvo 360... i have one for sale as it happens (no its not a shamless plug....) If you want somthing cheap i wouldnt go for any of them as when you stack it your bank ballance will drop to 0 instantly... E30's are good but cheap ones are rust buckets i've been their and done that more than enough times to tell you that you need to spend about 2.5k to get a decent 325i then budget another £750 for unexpected things before you evean consider going sideways... 86's are a lot of money for a starter drift car and parts are not cheap or easy to come by in the uk... 200sx's Are very overrated *awaits lynch mob* I have owned 4 of them (3 s13's and 1 s14) all have not been a patch on my standerd RX7 FC EGI... yes they have power but the stock handeling is shit and reliability isnt that good (had more problems with the s14 than the 13's put together... blown turbo gaskets... turbo feeds... oil filter that wouldnt come off then loosened while driving and pissed all the oil out killing the engine...) I got my 360 out of boredom and chance and i wish i hadnt wasted my time with the 200's now... bit of work and she kicks out in such a more rewarding way than just bouncing off the turbo every corner... If you want a cheap toy then get a volvo 360 / 340 cut the springs block the back suspension and weld the diff and go out and get it sideways... or buy mine which has all of that done

MX5s are cheap, handle well as stock and normally reliable. Parts are cheap too. Only 115bhp on the early 1.6 but that is enough to do a good job at linking Pod/Norfolk Arena/Barkston. I turbo'd mine for 500 quid. I swear I've typed that same paragraph word for word 18 times already. I had a 50 quid E30 320 for two years - it never broke down, never got serviced and doubled my money when I sold it. Excellent car. I had a 600 quid E34 535 - loads of reliable NA power for the money, and pimp as hell. Good fun on a track too. |

Im seriously considering an mx5 when i get rid of my volvo in a few months, at first i want sure, but im hearing good things, and a turbo kit sounds good ![]() Plus i have some 9j et10s that will fit ![]() 1.8 the better car? So im not completely thread hijacking, a few mates have got E30's and swear by them.. Its all personal preference and money... |

there not too bad, £1500 easily get one... If you want a cheap slag go volvo or e30... my volvos been abused, jumped on, it's overheated and theres still noting (major) wrong with it lol Starts on the button, can still get 20-35 mpg depending on how you drive it.. |

| Yep. Bigger brakes, stronger diff, Torsen LSD instead of viscous on the 1.6 and bigger clutch. More power too. See, that's why I'm tempted to stop replying to newb threads - it gets really boring for everyone else. |
