A suggestion...

Seeing as Driftland is bigger than the world Could there be an area set aside that's basically an ever expanding corner?

Sounds odd this, but I (and I'm sure others) would like to practise mid-drift upshifts...

So just somewhere that I could change up from 2nd to 3rd whilst still in the one corner?

Maybe then it could be reversed later in the day to practice downshifts too.

Steve

Sounds like a good idea to me. I'd like a go at that.

That would be cool

I've often thought about it, start in the middle with donuts and then work your way out in concentric circles. I've never had enough cones to mark a track well enough to try it out though

sounds good, i'd also like to see more of the high speed stuff if it would be possible, every practice day i've been to has always had me limited to 2nd gear and to progress I really could do with going up the box a bit. as driftcentral seems to be the size of a small planet is there any chance of some 3rd gear+ corners?

When you can handle 2nd gear without spinning

So basically this corner would be a spiral Sounds good. Upshifting is no biggy though just nail it into the next gear and be ready for the little twitch at the back end, not quite sure how I learnt this - think it was from the street on big 2nd into 3rd roundabouts

When I can whore a ride in someones fast car though I'd like to do silly speed sideways antics, I was 4th gear ~100mph at Coram corner at Snetterton, was good fun although actually pretty easy and steady Flat to the mat, surprisingly big angle despite not feeling like much, and lots of wooshy wooshy speed and tickly feelings in your belly. Good shit. lol.

Some of the fastest course yesterday was 3rd gear if you got the skills/grip for it

There is a difference between third gear cause you can and third gear cause you have to I can do third gear stationary in the liner, but real third gear is 75+ entry speed

The faster track we ran yesterday was pretty similar to the one used for the EDC licensing which was similar to the main donny track used for EDC round 1. Entry into the 1st corner was top end of 3rd if you fancied it

We'll always aim to have a mix of challenges available

I wanna go back to Snetterton, Coram is soooo much fun, that corner just lends itself to drifting - long and sweeping with a downhill slope as you come out of the corner.

I don't doubt it What i meant was, from how Stav described it, most people were using 2nd gear, implying you could drift it in second even if you wanted to use third. I just meant that I thought Steve meant 3rd gear because the corner was simply too fast for 2nd Implying bigger corneras

It was mainly the entry as usual. It took me a while to get it but once i had a bigger run up and got deep into 3rd for the entry everything came together. If you had a fast car or took more of a run up as i did, you could get it nicely into 3rd before throwing it in and then getting back down into 2nd by the second apex.. Was cool. Video coming soon

What kind of speed were you entering at Paz? Saw you try 2nd entries at the start and just bashing off the limiter straight away but as soon as you got into your groove in 3rd Just listening from the outside i'd say almost everyone else was entering at the very top of 2nd (think the only other person that didn't was Phil but hard to tell from outside)

Yeah must have been about that you were up in 3rd for quite a while before initiating, hopefully Andy will upload a video later as I filmed quite a few runs of yours and others, looking forward to see the car mounted stuff

my car didnt have the power to hit third on the top track, may be if the entry straight was a few meters longer i would have just about got into third?? think i need a turbo

Aye I was watching what you were doing there as well Paz. I kinda liked the bouncing off the limiter 2nd gear entries cause they sounded cool but I was watching to see how and when you were going to get up to 3rd.

I liked that higher speed track and it definately was more than I had dealt with before (best way to improve imo) but I still felt there could have been a big frick off corner somewhere without too many cones/obstacles to learn/practice higher speeds.
I appreciate that with the right balls/skills/grip that the course there lends itself to 70 mph 3rd gear entry but with my lack of balls/skill/grip it was a 55mph top of 2nd effort.

An additional suggestion (which nay be a struggle logistically) would be for the marshalls/organisers could possibily keep an eye on noobs/ unknowns to them in the morning then offer advice come afternoon.
I know that could be hard to do especially if there are a lot more cars there in the future but picking up on one persistent weakness and offering a quick word of advice could be incredibly helpful.

I tried concentrating on watching a couple of peoples styles and seeing how they did it (well those that weren't wanding it in) to see if I could pick something up.
