    my stage 1a 14 got beat by my pals standard sr swapped 13??

    gentlemen,
    me and my friend recently put an SR into his 13, it's running standard boost at 7psi, FMIC, air filter and a 3" straight through exhaust with no chip (chips in the post).

    I'm running a stage 1a on my 14a, h-dev chip, fmic, air filter, fuel pressure reg,gizmo boost controller set at 0.6 bar and 1.0 bar, and custom shotgun exhaust with mid box.

    being boys we had a little race and i wasn't pulling from him on either boost settings and now I'm getting ridiculed by my pals . I've got a rolling road print out for 289 bhp at the fly so surely i should have nailed him? what could be up with the car?

    I'm checking for boost leaks tomorrow but is they're anything else i could do?

    im only saying stage one as everyone knows what it is. and i use the car properly we was just seeing how fast it was and theres no way that a stock sr running standard boost would keep up with it (even though it did ha)

    oh and my car wasnt any faster on the two boost settings neither

    and you have to keep the throttle nailed in second to do a roundabout otherwise she struggles and will straighten up which is ghey.

    diff ratio. fact.

    s14 manual is 3.69

    s13 is 3.9

    that is all.

    and possibly a boost leak.

    Thankfully, someone else see's the light..

    At the OP - I would say you're 289bhp dyno sheet isn't worth the paper it's wrote on. If a standard SR S13 is nailing you, then you definitely have a poor running 14a. That said, your's is hardly what ya would call "tuned" with just a few bolt-on bits chucked at it. Have you had your AFR and timing checked lately?

    Ollie remember that a few of us recon that his engine has a different cam that could be doing it too. Least yours aint as slow as mine lol

    im accepting the fact i got raped although you can imagine the look on Andy's face ha i still think there's something up with the car though especially as its not faster with the 2 boost settings and struggles to spin in second.

    It was defiantly faster when you first got it. I still think you are loosing boost from somewhere.

    And just to make you feel better, my boost gauge says I'm running about 5psi not 7psi lol.

    This.

    Even IF yours was 289bhp at high boost, his wouldn't be THAT much less power with those mods, and weighs less, and has closer gearing.

    Simple fact is though, if your performance doesnt massively increase by almost doubling your boost, something is wrong, and it will be fairly obvious too.

    i checked for boost leaks and couldn't find shit so its getting a smoke test and rolling road power run next saturday to see whether im being a bitch or if its fucked ha.
    but i know it should have been faster with the different boost settings and should easily be able to do a roundabout where as it struggles to spin second where as my previous 14 loved it.

    I'd be getting it a health check before it hits the rollers.

    Namingly a compression test and check the turbo...
