    Hi peeps,

Thought of this the other day but couldn't find anyone that has done it.

Does anyone know if this is a do'able swap?
Also is there any difference in the port sizes?
Even if its a direct swap, would the VCT get in the way?

    Cheers

I wanna say the deck height is different on NEO vs. DET heads... So you might run into valves colliding with things it shouldn't. lol

What if you was to get a thicker head gasket or some low comp pistons, would that do the trick?

It could... The only other thing that would worry me is that I don't know if they use the same water jacket routes through the block and head. Ya know?

ive done little research and must say

    forget it

the head design would bump the compression to far for Boost and the valves would hit the pistons.
its a funny little engine with no real purpose :/

As in the difference in port sizes with the turbo head, do you know the difference? Also do you know what compression it will have with the neo head?

I've read two people have done this in Australia and got really decent outcomes.

Here's my $0.02... Forget about the NEO head. If you really want one that bad, go get your DET head port & polished. And get the Tomei solid lifter kit with a set of their Procams. Bam, NEO head. The only difference between the two is the flow rate and the fact that the NEO has a solid head setup from the factory.

    Thanks Antony.

Tbh it's not something I'm going to do. It was just something no one has discussed and there are very limited info.

    Cheers

you can do it, but why the fuck would you.. its like asking if your nob will get broken off if you bend it 122 degrees backwards.. no one knows the answer as no one has been dumb enough to try it lol

    Forgot about this thread lol.

Why should it be dumb thing to try?

Why would you want to spend min' £1k on solid lifters, port & polishing, higher duration cams when the head is there. Theres peeps in the AUS thats had very good results.

It works. Boosted rb20de neo compression is 185psi across the board. A friend of mine plus t a rb20 neo and makes 320kw on 19psi and smashes sets off tyres weekly. The head fits rb20det block only difference is have to run external vct feed. Water gallery's are in same spot just water jackets on head arnt external like an rb20det so have to run the rb25det plenium. Blocks are same height so saying valves will hit piston is incorrect. They run the higher compression due to the crowning as and the valve sleets on pistons on the de pistons. All in all this is an awesome conversion. And do recommend
