what clutch and box would be best to convert a 2000 nissan stagea.
will an rb20det clutch and box work?
    its the rb25det tiptronic 4wd model,series 2.
im looking to leave it full time rwd.
is it best to change sump as i know rwd and awd are different?

also what other cars lsd fit s14 etc... ?

Hey man, looking to do the same thing. R33 box and clutch will be fine. The rwd and 4wd sumps are different bolt patten. Don't forget you'll need r33 handbrake and console.

R33 console doesn't fit properly but can be dodged to look half decent. Same with the r33 handbrake.

R33 clutch, slave, master cylinder and box all bolt up fine

The best box and clutch would be a Neo RB25 box out of a manual R34GTT. However an R33 box and clutch will also work and be almost as good + cheaper.
Yes, but it's significantly inferior to the RB25 box. If your planning on keeping it standard then it's little problem but if your planning to run any power then for the little extra money it's better to get the RB25 version
Yes, most series 2 cars came with the tiptr
It's quite a bit of work to do it properly as you should remove the entire engine, remove the sump and then modify it to remove the front differential. Then replace the engine with a rearwheel drive box. If you're running a double wishbone front suspension (you are if you have 4wd) you can also fit an R33Gtst or R34gtst front hubs and uprights which will give you normal levels of steering lock as the 4wd cars are a bit restrictive due to the driveshafts.

Yes the sump is different but so is the block sump patern between 2wd and 4wd blocks. You can't fit a rwd sump onto a 4wd block (it doesn't work) so you need to modify the sump, cut off the differential and re-weld as mentioned above

The series 2 stagea runs an R200 abs differential pumpkin. Any other R200 differential unit will fit fine, as will any ABS R200 pumpkin. So S14,15, R32,33,34 etc.

thanks for the great info lads.

i will proberly go with r33 bits as they are more readily available.

im not looking at putting the power up but ill go with rb25 box just incase.

will the r33 propshaft work or will i need a custom one made up?

will the original stagea centre console work if cut right?

would there be any problems running the car rwd for a while with the 4wd sump or would i run into problems?

That's something I'd like to know. I would of thought taking the shafts out and leaving the cvs in would be fine

You can do that but you'll have very little lock which isn't to much of a problem on a daily

You'll need the front half of an R33 gtst propshaft

will the original stagea centre console work if cut right?[/quote]
No, there is no space for the handbrake to go which makes it really messy (mine is like this currently) modifying an R33 one is the best option short of buying a genuine stagea manual one for

    Not really providing you remove:
    - Both driveshafts
    - 4wd midshaft (between the front diff and the gearbox)
    - drain the front differential of all the oil

Just to clarify, fitting R33gtst uprights to get more lock involves changing the front crossmember for an R33gtst one and modifying the frame rails to enable you to fit them. It's not a small job nor one for the faint hearted or inexperienced.

    That's great.
    Thanks for all the help.
I can't wait for car to arrive now!
I will see how I get on with standard lock and decide then if I will be modifying it as it will be mainly a road car and odd track day.

mine passed its mot and mine is a series 1 which i have converted to rwd only done it by pulling the front transfer shaft out the box to the front diff. here's a list of all the parts that i used to convert mine to manual:

    r33 gtst clutch pedal
    r33 gtst clutch master cylinder
r33 gtst handbrake but i think you need the full cables to the hubs as mine were short on the original mountings and i had to make some new ones further down the car so they would reach
r32 gtr gearbox a push type not a pull as the clutches are cheaper
    r32 gtr clutch and flywheel
    r32 gtr clutch slave cylinder
    rb25 manual flywheel bolts
rb25 manual spigot bush for the crank (auto one can be a pain to get out)
    conceptua braided clutch line
manual gearbox bolts as auto ones were to short

thinks thats about it if i remember right thats for the series 1 should think most of it is the same for the series 2.
