Hi all, I'm thinking of getting an aristo as I need 4 doors but want a manual car on a fairly low budget.
What options are out there for a manual conversion and rough costs involved if poss.

Tried searching but so many options and loads of potential issues

    Cheers pete

Depends on what your power goals are, W58 would be cheapest but its pretty weak, R154 would be the stronger choice but the price goes up. Id probably budget a couple of grand for it. Dale_b would be the guy to talk to, or Polo.

What Aristo you after, Mk1 or 2?

not done one myself but heard its a cunt of a job to manual an aristo as unlike most cars, it never came in manual form.

so theres no holes predrilled for clutch pedal/cylinder and iirc the stock twin turbos get in the way of installing a master cylinder. Likewise theres no shifter surround/clocks etc.

Would be billy bad ass having a manual aristo but from what ive heard its a lot of work. Pretty sure polo did one for someone a while back

Yeah I've messaged polo and looking into the ins / outs of it. Been Looking at pedals on e gay and I'm possibly thinking of megane scenic pedal as the master cylinder sits in a good position to run a resovoir behind the dash and the hose to the slave to be taken under the carpet to the tunnel. As for the box it sounds like a 530d bmw box is a decent cheap option as they cope with the weight and torque.
Guess it'll be an adventure whatever happens lol

JZ to BMW box conversion kits are available, and likewise I've heard very good things about the BMW boxes on these engines. Have to get a hybrid prop solution I believe but that's no biggy really.

Yeah can get a prop made for around 150 so it's no major issue. Seems like the crap part is the clutch pedal

You can use the rear of the Aristo prop, and swap the front (if its a Toyota box) Polo did a 6 speed conversion on my mates JZS161 so he knows the score for sure.

I done mine. Polo started it, but was shit, I done it all again.

I done it with R154 parts. 3-5 grand . Top end if you want a garage to do it.

Its actually not hard, theres a lot of man hours, but its all pretty simple.

Have a read through my build thread. All the tricky bits are covered there. I didnt write much about clutch pedal placement etc as its all straightforward, just time intensive.

tricking ecu etc is all in there.

Consider a 350z box.... Cheap, plentyful, very strong and conversion plates are available.
