So I sold my little turbo spazda and purchased a sensible e39 540i auto. Im bored of being sensible already.

Now I'm assuming it'll skid fine with it 4.4 v8 but the open diff is utter shit. I don't mean full on skid days I just want to have a bit of fun in it. I have very little knowledge on how a auto box works. If I weld the diff is the ZF auto box likely to die or wear out extra fast?

1st job in any case would be fit a bigger cooler to the auto box, if it runs through the rad, by pass that into a dedicated oil cooler.

The output shaft will be loaded up a bit more than normal but probs wont be any more aggressive than shifting under full load in a straight line

Thanks for the info mate. These ZF boxes appear to be problematic according to the Internet.

    Hopefully it'll be ok.
