Autosport Intl - Pictures of our stand and demo team

Hi all,

Thank you to all those who attended the show in support of the EDC and the countless people who came up to show their support for 2007.

The purpose of our inclusion in the show was to give chance to those who have stood at a distance in the past, watching the sport, a chance to come up and find out exactly how it all works and how professional it is as well as 'update' everyone on how far the sport has come along in the past couple of years in its professional level sense. Throughout the 4 day show we had literally thousands of enquiries and came away feeling that it was an extremely positive move for us to now show not only a mass public audience but also the core racing industry that professional drifting should be taken seriously and is here to stay. We presented a 50sqm stand and also provided a 5 car drift demonstration team in the indoor arena alongside the WRC cars etc.

Most notably the biggest element of surprise by just about everyone was the level of our rules and regulations and the specifications of the cars, all things which most failed to realise exist and mirror various aspects of normal race cars. This aspect gave the most credibility and shows the uniform professionalism that all of our competitors have in order to take part. Health and safety, rules and regs, risk assesments, blue chip insurance policies, MSA scrutineers etc etc, all things that make our events different and more recognisable as the leader of European Drifting.

ALL PICTURES BELOW WERE TAKEN BY EDC OFFICIAL SNAPPER ED FAHEY, WELL DONE ED! - Some pictures also include cars from our Time Attack Series which was also presented on the stand.

Here are some pictures of our stand in the main hall:

Pictures from our Live demonstration

We demonstrated a 5 car drift routine throughout the 4 days which included 10 shows, each show had an audience of 5800 people, therefore our displays were preformed in front of 50000+ spectators.

The drivers and cars were:

Brett Castle - Abbey Motorsport S14
Mark Luney - Universal Turbos BNR32
Tony Green - Sumo Power Z33
Mark Johnston - Weston Performace S13
Phil Morrison - Driftworks S14 ( 2006 Champion )

The drivers put on a fantastic high speed 4 gear display, yes, 4th gear! and really showed a glimpse of what real drifting is all about.

Was it me ? Or could I not find the EDC/Driftworks stand... there were 2 main halls and I couldn't find it for toffee..... was it in the pit pass only area? Cause if it was you missed out cause I got to the show at about 11 on saturday and the pit passes had sold out.... and loads of people were still arriving then...
