RWD Converted Focus's etc just use a Cossie floorpan and running gear, perfectly safe, perfectly cheap.

Would be nice to see other stuff barring hordes of Skylines and S-Bodys, thats for sure, IF there was a driver good enough.

UKDC are allowing them anyhow arnt they?

I wanna turn the cheap and tatty Renault Laguna I have on the drive into a RWD BTCC lookalike beasty... and I reckon it'd be a damn sight safer than some cars I've seen...

It would certainly bring new meaning to the term 'sudden death'

Theres already been one with a twin turbo rover v8 engine in it.

Looked the tits, even when he had an "interesting" paint job done (which would work on a drift car).

This is nothing to do with westfield type, spaceframe stuff, and go-karts, but RWD converted FWD cars can be cool, breaks up the hordes of same old shit.

But they allowed in UKDC, so happy days

To the people who say it is not safe true some conversions maybe be poorly done but is that not what the safety checks are there for? Could they not possibly say the cars have to be certified by someone to make sure they are 100 percent safe as my dads focus is a pukka car converted by Steve Scott of A1 rally sports a highly respected ford tuner not some bodge job?

To be fair it'd be an absolute nightmare to scrutinise cars THAT closely during events and getting the car "certified" wouldn't be an easy option either as a) who'd want to put their name down that a car they'd checked and certified ok which gets used for some very heavy driving wasn't going to fall to bits and b) even if it was certified, who's "certificate" is up to standard required by the organisers or more importantly their PL insurers?

It's just one of those unfortunate things, oh well - plenty of RWD cars to use eh.

No the only rule i would change is that any rwd car should be allowed providing it meets safety requierments and is not a spaceframe.

So what you're basically saying is, that you want the rules of the top level of UK drifting changed, just so your dad can have a go? Noone else is really effected by it at all...

How about your dad has a go at one of the competitions further down the chain to see if its worth all this whinging and moaning?

There are factory made JDM cars that almost fit that description just have to keep your eye's open , just a pig getting drift parts and a bigger pig maintaining large drift angle.

Correct me if I'm wroing here... Isn't a Caterham with 300bhp going to be a total pig to drift? Surely you need some decent weight or insane entry speeds?

Well Mr Andrew Strang!! if your are going to make accusations like that at least have the common sense to get your facts right!!

the 2006 regs clearly stated:
"front wheel drive cars or cars made originally as front wheel drive may not be used in any form"

secondly IF you think a rule is unfair it is not the sensible way to change it by going on a public forum and saying the rule is "stupid " which by implication means those that set the rule are also stupid??

We worked very hard to try to get a set of rules with the interests of the majority in mind not one person with a narrow attitude.
Where I've been aproached about rules that some though were unfair , its been discussed and in some cases if justified they have been changed
