| MotorsTV Round 1 EDC - A viewpoint For Round 2 the programme will be polished, it doesn't need a full respray but simply a polish to bring it upto spec and we will be working on this over the next few weeks. Basically the programme came across in the right light to the right people (non Drifty types) and reviews have been good across the board. It was never going to be perfect out of the box for the die hards and like I said a bit of polishing here and there will make the required changes, although I did find it funny that a few people seemed like they were teaching us to suck eggs so to speak and calling it overall shit, but hey thats personal opinions but sometimes they are better kept to themselves especially if they can be deemed to be outright insulting or derogatory to peoples and Driftings achievements. What EDC (and especially the team within it does) since we held the D1GB Championship's in 2006 is to push forward Drifting all across Europe by setting standards from an operational, event, attitude and professional business perspective that you can clearly see all other Drift related Series's or Championship's are following and mirroring across Europe. It's hard to lead but a damn site easier to follow in our footsteps and seeing these other Series's and Championship's following our tails so to speak at least gives us the satisfaction that we are doing the right things and taking the bull by the horns so to speak. It's refreshing for me to see across Europe the other organisers of Drift events that are now achieving standards with and in there events they never before had, or were happy to sit back and just let them roll on, and its because of what we achieve(d) that this happens, much in the same way that Kiki from OPT made the first platforms in the early to mid 2000's for us to carry on from. So by leading and pushing boundaries out front we make some mistakes and errors which we are quick to rectify and the others that follow our lead have the advantage of not making them by simply watching what we do, which is all well and good but perhaps some people should take note of this and appreciate the way we push the boundaries and the risks we take and accept that straight out of the box the odd idea or the way it is carried out may not be spot on. Personally I make no excuses for trying to move Drifting forward and along the way having the odd hiccup but what I do resent is the underlying trend by some people to have a dig at us at every given opportunity, but hey that the problem when you try to be honest, open and being out front doing it I suppose. We don't need praise or a pat on the back for everything we say or do but simply an understanding that everyone is entitled to get it wrong once and have an opportunity to rectify it in a way that advances what happened, its not all doom and gloom with us and personally I looked at the MotorsTV programme and thought 'great, few tweeks here and there and we really have something', whilst others think of it as more of an opportunity to have a dig at us or to make out they have something better than us when all they are doing is learning from us and following our lead. I have said a lot of 'I' in this thread and am not in anyway leaving my business partner Andy Barnes out of this but he will speak for himself if he wants to, these are my personal views and I wasn't going to put anything up as I didn't need to but felt the way some of the Drift old school types were going was a bit unfair and unbalanced plus as usual other people trying to take advantage of any/all the hard work we do. I'm going to close this thread as I simply don't have time to reply and the people that support what we are doing don't need to say anything and the ones who don't have already said what they want to ![]() Regards, Glen Last edited by EDC Admin : 24-04-2007 at 12:46. |
