Had a top time today, my first EDC competition after getting a provisional license on Friday. Unfortunately Declan had to pull out to allow me in as I was 1st reserve.

I did ok I though I guess, had some nasty undeer issues which didnt help but overall I was better than I was on the friday practice so it all good. Took a while to get used to the entry speed, havent done anything that fast for ages. I was hitting 7k in 3rd which I think is getting on for 90mph.

So, Ive got a championship point (yep, just 1) so that also means my provisonal license becomes a full one.

Cheers EDC, I like.

Actually Mark Johnston had 'started' qualifying in his car and therefore cannot change his car once he's running, but I'm sure you knew that or have demos blurred your vision on what real competition Drifting's about

If you have something to say Dave about other 'event organisers' then at least have the decency to ensure decorum and an indepth knowledge of whats what in competition Drifting before sticking your neck out

Anyway, the judging was spot on and in the specific case of Niall information was passed on from what was seen from not only the judging stand but also the start line, so its a bit harse to jump to conclusions without the full extent of knowledge. Niall was warned that what he was doing was not within the rules or what had been said in the briefing so we had no other choice than to act accordingly when he never listened to what we said more than once on the start line. Niall took his chances and it didn't pay off, simple. EDC does not run a 'favourites' judging system and any cause for complaint is listened to and acted on appropriately and in a professional manner. Sometimes things do go unseen even to the judge(s) and the operations team but hey that just the 1% of human error built into all of us but rest assured we have a conversation over the radio before making any/all decisions and if its not clear cut then we have to let it slide, this is whats fairness is all about surely.

Anyway enough of the second guessing, this event was superb, and as usual Silverstone proved itself to be the toughest Drift competition track in Europe for driver and vehicle with all the guys competing even from the friday deserving a pat on the back for having the balls to take this circuit on, like I said this place is awesome and is a place where only the toughest drivers and cars can play. A few of the supposed 'top' drivers from within the European scene it seems avoided coming to Silverstone and for good reason because as mentioned earlier the circuit is a killer, the competition/driver skill is tough and the judging is fair, so hats off to all the drivers who entered for putting on an absolutely superb show and as said having the balls to compete in the toughest competition in Europe.

The event says it all so I'm done..................

Glen

Awesome event.

I couldn't fault any of the judging. Had a good spot atop the brooklands building

The drifting was good, the JTS show sucked.

Have to say. Niall's disqualification was harsh considering he was apparently having traction issues and got disqualified for not being flat out. I was scared to mention it but it was a bit too harsh.

Interesting how he must have had "traction issues" on the start line in the tsuisou, but not in qualifying on friday and practice on the sunday.

I just said it was a shame Mark J wasnt allowed to use the car Glen, I dont see what your issue is with that. I thought he had only done the practise lap, so no judged runs > hence why I said it was a pity but I didnt disagree with your rules.

I enjoyed this weekend alot, looking forward to scotland in July.

Your comentatings just getting better can you please do it for Motors TV this event would be much better.

I found some of the judjing confusing from were i was sat in the BRDC stand as did most but you couldnt see the entry run up. As with any judged sport tho you'll alwasy have some who dissagree was a though one with everyone being so close.

Great show looking forward to knock hill

And thanks again to glen for sorting out bertie

After an afternoon of rewiring & fitting up a wasted spark set up it still was'nt fixed, then to top it all whilst out on a local test run my HKS Twin Plate clutch fell apart at the pull assembly. Its an engine out job in my car & so that effectively put me out of action on Sat night. Was trying to find a car to borrow but no luck...
Gutted for you Dec, but at least you got in to the top 16 again. Good luck with fixing the smoke machine.

Dave, the way to do it is to ask me what was at the time going on or call me to ask, but to make a public assumption isn't the right way to do it as it throws up issues that aren't actually there

Looking forward to seeing you in Scotland with the gang
