I think if you got the sumo 350z against the SVA 350z it would be good as they are at about the same level of tune, the main difference being the way they're set up to drive.

Some of the time attack cars are bloody slow round corners, budget/power making up for lack of talent. Something thats not as comman in Drifting.
I'm sure some of the club class cars would be slower than the top driftcars

Right, just had a meeting, lets do it.

Im thinking the big U-shaped corner before the main straight at Brunters is ideal.

Will use the Datron equipment and poss some other stuff, so can see speeds at every single point round the corner.

Need 2 or 3 of the FASTEST drifters.

BonBon in the Chaser obviously, as he silly quick.

Who else?

Need people with serious grip and serious bottle/mentalness.

Luney driving the SVA car springs to mind.

Gonna invite a variety of cars, probably 10 of them, 2 or 3 drift cars.

I was thinking Hudson as well. The Whiffbitz FD is quick as a 16 year old with a hooker, and Id be interested to see whether Pazwaaaargh is actually going as quick as he looks to be

Was it timed at all at EDC Rd2? Speeds were mentioned on the TV prog, but dont know where they were plucked from, or what exact point they were timed at.

Speeds are hard, needs to be someone who really holds the speed or accelerates, a lot of cars come in silly quick but lose all the speed in the initiation or first corner.

Entry speeds were recorded in practice at Round 2 but nothing else.

The only problem at Brunters (aside from anal noise regs) is that its such a wide track that no one will loose speed due to course layout? Everyone could be flat out as there isnt any need to adjust your line or aim anywhere in particular? Im not sure, im possibly over thinking.. Sounds like a right laugh mind.

i think its an excellent idea.

would you have a normal high performance car like an evo for example there to show the diference from what the great unwashed think are quick cars to proper drift and TA cars

Like said, will have a selection of about 10 different cars, so yeah, your average modded hot hatch and evo will be there too, not just full on time attack cars, will prob only have 2-3 of them, as per drift cars.

Noise limits wont be a real issue now, dont worry, we special

We were planning, and easily can, lay cones out to make the corner more precice, but if anyones got other ideas, feel free to mention them.

Other tracks too. Castle Coombe is fairly easy for us, but i couldnt think of a particular corner there good for it, needs to be a quick one really.

I dont think we rich enough for Silverstone unfortunatley.

Do it. I'd love to see that. Often thought about as isn't that why people started the drifting in the first place? To keep momentum round a corner? Should be interesting.

Could it not run as a timed lap? Obv with drifters having to drift each corner but not the straights?

Ok, let me rephrase fast...

Camp is silly fast, but cars go silly fast thru it too, so doesnt really lend itself to the drifters as much in my eyes, but maybe im wrong, and id like to know.

Coming down Club Straight and around Brooklands on the other hand seems idea, as "grip" cars usually go round it slow, and the best drifters enter and go round it like total nutters.

Basically id like it to favour the drift cars the best I can, as obviously some corners theres no way they gonna do as well.

Suggestions from people whos had a go would be welcomed, I mean, Paz, youve drifted Camp, do you think thats viable from the above point of view?

Just to add my 2 pence worth - Before I knew that sliding a car round a track for fun was called drifting, I tried grip driving round Teesside compared to drifting. Drifting was about 3 seconds slower (58 compared with 55) using an raced prepped MX5.

tighter corners favor the drifters as drifting alows for much higher entry speeds so at coome id use quarry through the next chicane

I think the bottom corner at Brunters will certainly favour the top-grippers.
