It cannot wait any longer!! TEAM DRIFTING at Knockhill - Sunday 29th July

Team Drift/Battle pics from first ever event can be found here:

EDC Team Drifting,Knockhill, 29th July 2007 @ Fotopic.Net

EDC and Knockhill Circuit are putting the final touches to a Team Drift event for the day after EDC Round 3 and would like to welcome entries from EDC licensed drivers and licensed drivers from the Eurodrift National/Pro Am Series. A selection of EDC drivers have already committed to this and as planning progress's we will update the Teams. We appreciate this information is being released a bit close to the event itself but time scales have not been on our side unfortunately but we are willing to push this ahead as are the drivers.

Any non EDC drivers/Teams entering are not required to have a License but must have a cage. Practice time is slightly limited to roughly 2 x 20-30minute sessions with the competition being ran over a 20-30 minute open session. The course will be exactly the same one as used on the Saturday for EDC Round 3.

The Drift Teams will for this time consist of 2 drivers as we want to ensure we can walk before we run, 3 car Drifting will take place when we and the drivers are happy to do this and can do it in a spectacular fashion, believe us when we say the Triple Team Drifting is very very difficult and does require a lot of practice to carry it off successfully.

The majority of drivers presently compete against each in the Tsuiso's and produce a brilliant spectacle so having them working together as a Team will prove not a better spectacle but a complimentary spectacle.

Team names can be whatever you want, to a point

Judging will be carried out in a 50/50 split, one 50% being Maz and best of all the other 50% being the crowd. Judging criteria will be released shortly but remember its not all about the highest speeds but about working together to show the skills you have.

We have been looking to do this for sometime now and are pleased to be able to hopefully put on this event for the first ever time and to give the crowds and drivers even more of what they love, plus its going to be great fun for everyone which is what its all about. You never know it but a couple of Eurodrift drivers may even take the win if they run good together as like we said it is not all about speed but co-ordination and timing that will take the win.

Entry is free and trophies will be given out at the end of the event.

Plans are afoot to also include Team Drifting at the EDC Final once event timings have been confirmed.

Thats all for now and we will update as things progress. Any Eurodrift drivers interested that have a cage in their cars please contact Mitto in the first instance as he has seen you guys driving and knows your abilities

Regards,

Awwww maaan!

Suckuuuu

No way I'll be able to afford to do this, plus my only potential team mate's car isn't actually going to be finished.

Oh well, at least it's going the right way and I'll maybe get to do a team comp next year.

Sounds cool

unfortunately, no such thing as 'teams' here in the northwest
I'm a lone drifter in the wild west but I'll be about and happy to have a crack with someone.

Can we run with 3 cars if we want to Glen??? 2 cars isn't really a team. TNS with me, Phil & Parry would be good.

Of course 2 cars is a Team, think of all the other car orientated sports that use 2 cars as a Team.

You (or others) may be able to have 3 if you want (as this is a fun competition) but I am pretty sure it will not come together for 3 guys at this stage and look as slick as it could/should be, and you will no doubt lose out to a 2 car Team.

But it'll be badass

I just fancy the idea of 3 cars, it sounds like a laugh and as long as it's with people I've driven with before and trust I'd be 110% happy to at least give it a go if allowed!
