| EDC Round 4 THE FINAL - August 18/19th - Donny South Show - Event Details Ok guys here we go, preliminary details for the Final. Saturday August 18th - 2pm to 7pm: Sign on - 12pm to 1.30pm Scrutineering - 12pm to 1.30pm Briefing for EDC Licensing - 12.30pm Briefing for EDC Licensed drivers - 1pm EDC Licensing - 2pm to 3pm EDC Licensed driver practice - 3pm to 4.30pm EDC Round 4 Qualifying - 4.30pm to 7pm Top 16 announcement - 7.15pm Sunday August 19th - 10am to 5pm Driver briefing - 09.30am Practice - 10.30am to 11am 16 to 8 - 12.30pm to 1.15pm 8 to 1 - 3pm to 4pm Award ceremony - 4.30pm The course We had our final test here last night and the circuit is laid out very much in a street style, just like going into a big roundabout from a fast open slip road, going around it and then a transition, followed by hard acceleration out. The test was carried out with the help of drivers James Hudson, Lex, Steve Carter and Bladey. The guys will let you know surface conditions etc., as its not like the normal tarmac of the circuits we generally run on, this is rough and ready and very hardcore. Must say this course will be very spectacular for the crowd with the drivers heading towards them from the start line high in 3rd gear (or possibly 4th in Hudsons or Luneys case ) on a very flat surface so they can see everything, then you have a hard flat right that slows down and then tightens into a transition area bringing you out on a fast left hander the way you went in, basically the track crosses itself on the first/last turn so to speak and all right infront of the crowd. We will probably have two start points for the drivers to initiate at as the lower powered cars will find the first turn hard to keep on the gas from the earlier initiating point. The Venue The EDC Final is being held in conjunction with the Donny South Show which regulary attracts a crowd of well over 10,000 so it will be heaving with spectators and a fitting venue for the Final: Donnysouth 2007 - Sunday 19th August - North Weald Airfield, Essex - the Souths favourite modified car show Accommodation is plentiful in the area and if your no lucky enough to get a accommodation near to the circuit there are plenty of hotels and B&B's not too far away in many areas which are easily accessible due to the Donny Shows easy access being only 5 minutes off the M11 (Junction 7) and only 10 minutes from the M25 (Junction 27) motorways. No fuel is available and neither are garages so bring an awning or gazeebo to keep the sun off . Only 2 x cars per driver will be allowed in and you will receive the usual 4 x entry tickets per. You will be in a fenced off paddock area close to the course.General spectators will not have access at all on the Saturday. Championship Points Standing Everything to play for here as you can from the points standing see below after Round 3: 1 Mark Johnston 40 2 Brett Castle 35 3 Maciej Polody 32 3 Mark Luney 32 5 Tony Green 30 6 Ben Broke Smith 23 7 Mark Buckle 20 7 Niall Gunn 20 9 Chris Parry 19 10 Jonny Power 18 11 James Grimsey 17 12 Pete Barber 12 13 Phil Morrison 11 14 Ian Harrisson 10 15 Alan Mc.Cord 9 16 Tim Marshall 8 17 Dean Kearney 4 17 Declan Hicks 4 19 Mark Coyne 2 19 James Hudson 2 21 Steve Evans 1 21 Steve Carter 1 21 Ralph Crampton 1 21 Daniel Eyles 1 With the points system being 20 for 1st down to 2 for 10th (and the other 6 drivers from 11th to 16th gaining 1 point) its very close at the top. Mathematically 6 drivers can take the season win with a further 12 being able to get a top 3 Championship placing. We say this because as seen at Donington, Silverstone and Knockhill - anything can happen at any time to any of the drivers on the day - this is gearing up to be a phenomenal fight for the title. More information to follow. Regards, Last edited by EDC Admin : 01-08-2007 at 18:44. |

| Also another quick note for non-locals, the 'V' Music festival is also taking place this weekend and its only 5mins down the road from North Weald. The festival attracts thousands every year so could mean there'll be double the traffic!! ![]() |
