| drift car less | Next Season.... Well the season is over... for EDC anyway What would people like to see for the next year? ... thought I would get the ball rolling. From all accounts EDC has been well received - and having it on the TV to a huge audience must have improved the profile of drifting in the UK/Ireland. Is there enough money in the sport to support more rounds in the series ? Maybe even a foreign round in NL or Germany etc TV camera on all competitors cars ? LIVE TV Coverage / the event run along side a mainstream race day such as BTCC or GT Series ? |

| Origin x Skay ![]() | I don't really think the suggestions above are feasible. A foreign round is a good idea however it would price many of the 'privateer' competitors out of that round. An event weekend can be expensive enough in this country without worrying about further travel/accomodation costs too. Maybe having an even outside of the championship would be a good idea - like an EDC 'Cup' in Europe, possible involving some of the European drift championships too. TV Cameras on all cars would be down to the TV production company, not EDC. Also a live feed would be HUGELY more expensive than the current recorded programme and I don't think the audience is big enough yet to uphold that. |

Jord , I was only throwing ideas into the pot . . . not saying any of them are practical.. but it might inspire people to think about other improvements - which I guess they will do regardless of my feable post attempt ![]() I wonder if EDC could sell the footage to other broadcasters - like the SPEED channel or similar ?

| Next year I'd love to be piloting my own car, driving like the drift god I know is hidden way deep inside and watching all you biatches, bow at my feet like drift minions only lit up by the glorioius rays of my god-like drift aura I'd make thunder roar, lighting light stuff and rain to fall only when Sweeps isnt competing ![]() |

| I only made it to a couple of the EDC rounds, but the same stuff as comes up every time this questions is asked: More action on the track and less sitting watching empty tarmac More info for the crowd - Maz's commentary is awesome, but there are some places you cant hear it - a giant scoreboard arrangement showing who was driving which car and what they scored would be good A decent commentator on the EDC TV programmes New tracks, live feeds and dancing girls (actually, that last one should be looked at) Im sure will come in the future, but surely getting decent press coverage and through that and a polished product more arses on seats has to come first ![]() |

| I don't know how to say this but the way it might sound is not how i want it to be perceived. I went to the first round at donnington, although the driving was great and the competition was good to watch etc i have not returned. And i doubt i will return next year either. To me i find the modified shows boring as hell, so half an hour of edc practise then maybe a two hour wait till the next action i can't stand the wait and get bored as hell. More tracktime for the drivers would be nice to see and maybe as driver numbers increase this might be looked at. This would be good for spectators also. Its the wait inbetween each session that is the main problem imo. |

Fair enough you edited it but it was related. I was indirectly trying to say maybe use a better venue for the finals next year. Sorry if this is offensive in any way...

| celebs in car ![]() | i had fun sat/sunday but wouldnt from my honest opinion i would prefere to watch/compete on more of a track setup, more bends involved, more chances to pass/pull away!! has it got to have a 80-100 mph run up into first corner for every round!!! i know there is a lack of tracks that can acomodate all these points but i think places like lydd are fun to drive/can see the whole track aswell, and i know not mege fast track but i love skidding on it as do alot of people i speak to!!! aslong as people having fun then no reason should not grow!!! cheers and just my thoughts thats all!!! |

both these points are what made eurodrift round 6 so successful. also the fact it was put forward as a show with the gates only opening to the public for qualifying and such, i dont think there was more than 5 minutes after the gates opened where there wasnt a car on the track

| I like the idea of a foreign round, And if the Motors coverage does its job then theres no reason why the profile wont be raised enough that perhaps individual events couldnt be sponsored, thus paying for the competitors to be shipped over - Top16 from a UK pre qualifier plus another 16 from a seperate Euro qualifier perhaps - or maybe just the top 16 in the championship standings at that time as a bonus round to gain extra points. The Shell V-Power Eurobattle has a nice ring to it !!! I think the biggest room for improvement is the crowds and the users of this site. The level of driving has shot up immensely, the amount of venues and locations is up and will no doubt be expeanded next year. But all you ever read is "I didnt bother going but wished I had" or "I havent got any money to spectate at this event"............from someone who's just spent dosh on something shiney and then moans about their lack of practice too, or "Who's going to bother going to EDC XYZ and when is it" from users of this site who should be the baptisers of the rest of the motoring youth to show them the way. People here should be knowing whats going on, organising to attend, hopefully talking work colleagues and friends to tag along too, then once the core of supporters has expanded then word of mouth can help to make it a domino effect. It frustrates the fook out of me when I read some of the stuff here, especially when its mixed with "I just went to my first EDC round and it was awesome" or "I had to join this site to say how much we enjoyed watching you at XYZ Show" I expect this will be an unpopular opinion, but fundamentally without support the scene will never be self sustaining. I think all the major players from EDC to ProDrift to EuroDrift to whoever have done a great deal that has shown their commitment. The drivers from wherever have show theirs, I know I have certainly spent a fair few quid, and what Marc Polody must spend beggars belief (just in front bumpers ) maybe its time all the people who like being part of the scene took more of an active role rather than just purely being interested in the cheapest parts, the cheapest drift cars, the cheapest practice venues for themselves.J. |

| InitialD erby ![]() | I agree bladey, i know a few people who think "paying to watch someone else drift is stupid" and thats fair enough but i really like going and have taken my dad to events before. He got on an option dvd and everything, full body shot and he`s wearing a baseball cap that lakes him look like a terminally ill child Alot of my friends wont go because...... 1) Its at a "chav" car event. The answer to that is just to not go look at the chav stuff, thats what i`ve done at the donnys becuase its not my thing. 2) Its expensive to get in (the donnys anyways) for the amount of drifting you see. Now i understand thats just how it is for now because its how to bring it to the masses. I can`t wait until its become popular enough as a spectator event so it can have stand alone events again so you can see qualifing etc. Also i`d like to see more driver interaction. The driver introduction was great from the final round as people have said. Its ok for us because we know the drivers on a personal level and were in the pits chatting to them etc but for the average donny show goers they wouldn`t know one driver from another. It would be good to get the crowd introduced to personalitys so they could cheer for the driver they like best/find funnest/does the best rodeo instead of the one with the nicest car/red car/S13 cause my mates got a 1,000,000bhp triple turbo one innit Saying that, how you`d get a british crowd to even cheer is beyond me ![]() |

| celebs in car ![]() | good points, for people that know the sport and drivers the lack of skidding is not the biggest issue but for someone who i told to come along and watch it was little disapointing as lack of time cars where on the track!! my friends prefere to come watch a practise day as from start to fin there is some dori action on the track!! they can go setup with cameras and film allday!! i understand there has to be a middle ground, but if people paying good money they want to see action!!! |
