Santa Pod Raceway secured as an official practise venue For a long time we (EDC) have been actively seeking to find a suitable location for Drift practise at all levels. Following the introduction of Drifting at Santa Pod which we did back in 2005 the venue has been used for many people wishing to show off in front of the drag strip crowds. More recently Santa Pod announced the structured DWYB ( Drift What Ya Brung ) practise days and we have now further added to that calendar with the new addition of the DWYB Advanced practise days. This is more exciting news to the combined structure which is taking place for the general promotion of Drifting with a few organisations that are keen to work together for a team effort to make drifting more popular and advanced. This news is a structured step which not only provides a practise day source but also works well with the 2008 event which we (EDC) will hold at Santa Pod in July, making it the first professional competition ever held at the venue. Drift What Ya Brung Advance days at Santa Pod are for advanced drivers only and cars and will have a completely different and more challenging practise course layout in action as designed by EDC. This layout will only be used on advanced days at Santa Pod and will be reflective of a higher level of driving skill and machine setup making it a perfect venue/track layout to practise at for those who wish to turn a wheel between events or try out new settings on their cars. DWYB Advanced is restricted to the following drivers: All 2007 EDC Licence Holders All BDC ''Pro Class'' Licence holders All 2006 EDC Licence Holders All D1GB Licence Holders All D1GP/MSC/Formula D Licence Holders All drivers will be required to present their licence to Santa Pod upon arrival and will not be allowed to run unless they have their licence on demand. The DWYB Advanced dates are completely different from DWYB dates and are as follows: Dates (2008): Weds 26 March Weds 16 April Weds 7 May Weds 28 May Weds 2 July Weds 27 August Cost: £60 per driver to include driver admission ticket and one sign on. Spectators/crew to be charged £5 per head. Under 13's free. All drivers must book in advance direct with Santa Pod by either calling 01234 782828 or on line by www.santapodshop.co.uk Each DWYB Advanced practise day is organised and run directly by Santa Pod Raceway and is not an EDC or BDC event. Should you have any enquiry regarding the practise days, please contact Santa Pod directly. The events will be marshalled with grandstand seating and the shop will be open for light refreshments. There is a maximum of 40 drivers that can enter each practise day and tyre changing facilities will be on site. Santa Pod now have a dedicated page on their website for the Advanced days which is http://www.dwyb.co.uk/dwyb_advance.htm Needless to say there all always many things going on in the background at EDC and this is one which we are pleased to bring to fruition with our friends at Santa Pod Raceway which is once again in the interest of Drifting as a whole, not only EDC. Please support the events as a driver or spectator where you can, it’s a fantastic venue with no noise restrictions and they welcome Drifting with open arms, particularly open to those who will frequent the venue in a professional manner and use it as intended. This is welcome news to the Drift community and we hope you make good use of it. Cheers Andy & Glen Last edited by EDC Admin : 24-01-2008 at 13:39.

First day Hi, Following on from the announcement, the first Advanced day is being held as above on March 26th. If you are driver matching the eligible list, please organise yourselve and get booked in with Santa Pod. The layout for Advanced is the circuit being used for Round 4 of EDC ( in its temporary layout form with cones ) and therefore is perfect for those who wish to practise for Round 4 having never driven the new course or would like to drive on an EDC spec track. Either way, please contact Santa Pod. An email is also being sent to all drivers with this information. Cheers

on the santa pod web site it says that "BDC Amature drivers" can do this also? But above it says just pros? Which is right? Because i thought this was meant to be exclusive for EDC drivers to get in some good practise??? If "everyones" allowed to go it'l turn into the same situation as the silverstone days where you have to wait an hour in between runs! Therefore hardly any practise for what was setup for EDC guys! ![]() Last edited by NOS anyone?! : 01-03-2008 at 14:21.
