| Speedhunter ![]() | Day One at Dragon Performance with Martin Ffrench
Late on Wednesday evening just passed, I boarded the Stena Line Ferry with none other than European drift legend, Martin Ffrench. Our destination was Devon, to Dragon Performance's centre of operations. A delayed boat put us behind time, but a steady pace along the motorways landed us outside the workshops shortly after 6.30 a.m. Ross and the rest of the Dragon Performance team were waiting for us. Plenty of work would have to be done to convert Europes fastest RX7 to a complete drift setup. As I type to you from the Dragon Performance office, Martin and Ross, owner of Dragon Performance, are hard working on the workshop floor. Martin is installing a hydraulic handbrake, essential for the expected 100mph entry that JDM Allstars Wembley will throw at him. Ross is finishing fabrication of an elaborate V-Mount setup, to provide the brand new 13B Rotary engine with all the cooling the tough weekend course will demand. Later tonight, we expect to bring another new dragon to life. Every precaution is being taken to make sure the fresh motor comes to life and on song. Not many tuners dare to touch a rotary engine, but for Ross this is another day at the office, and we're expecting a 600hp car before dawn. With the fire of Martin Ffrench behind the wheel, this combination is set to be devestating. We'll keep this thread up to date, as long as we are in the night. Bare in mind none of us have slept for pushing on 36 hours, so this won't be a race but a test of patience and perseverance. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() More Coming Soon ... |

Can't wait to see this combination in the flesh, best of luck for getting it finished. Glad I'm not the only one with last-minute syndrome!

Ross and Martin have just returned from live mapping the car. Obviously there are no power figures but all systems are go. From my own road side view, the car looks and sounds very quick with very little lag and is pulling hard through 3rd. Both the lad's are at the car now trying to sort a water injection system problem so as to be able to safely run more ignition, more boost and more powers. I'll try get another thread of images up later on, but for now, I'm going to enjoy all this rotary goodness ! - Paddy (On Ross's A/C) |
