Offroad nitro buggies are the way forward. Much cooler than whizzy little electric drift cars with acrylic tyres. I have one of these ![]() not actual picture Although it's a bit borked at the moment and I'm thinking of upgrading the motor as I don't race it and the .21 is a bit on the weedy side. You can't beat the noise and smell of a nitro motor at over 30,000rpm

I prefer the action of offroad buggies with jumps and whatnot. Although at least the on-road nitro cars are a lot more reliable. i used to have an HPi RS4 which was good fun, and would generally work all day long. Compared to my Swift which is more exciting but seems to spend 98.6% of the time being broken. Like at the moment, it's got no rear torsion bar as I managed to break a droplink landing badly from a particularly savage jump. The onroad cars are fun if you have a few of you, and they are good to race. Offroad stuff you can enjoy even if you're by yourself.

| doughnutter | very true.. I've been racing RC for 3 yrs now and only got into drifting within the last 6 months so not had a chance to sample the 1/10th scale drifting.. The mrs puts up with my hobby aslong as 2 rules are followed: 1) there cleaned and put on the shelf as soon as they come back in the house 2) The bills are covered before i spent out on ordering new bits.. about £100 a month atm... gulp |

I'm a hobbyist, never done RC racing. There's a BMX track near me which is a sandy clay surface which is great for my buggy. The jumps are meant for full sixed humans on full sized bikes so comparatively absolutely massive. Great fun, but the car gets smashed to bits pretty quickly. You have to make sure everything's done up tight. I've got some road tyres for it too so I can still hang out with my mate who has an RS4 like my old one, so really you get the best of both worlds. Although nothing at all to do with RC drifting as they're 4WD.

i'll try steal some pics off the website later, but at the moment using a sumo power time attack car and soon to be complete (when i get the graphics done) Driftworks s15!! plus for those who enter, yokomo tyres can be got for 10 quid a set, we use these to try to keep the field even so driver skill is more important than the car used. check out the rules and build regs if you fancy a go at d1rc.co.uk

Had 4th round of the series on Saturday. Unfortunately Maz wasn't there to hold out his lead in the Club class so now he's 3rd, 2pts behind the joint leaders. Anyway heres two photos. ![]() D1RC Drift Series 07 Round 2 Final - Eddie Turner Vs Phil Warner ![]() Steve Davies' Concours D'Elegance winning shell.
